I think everybody who lifts weights at some point goes through a phase of relying too much on supplements.
I haven't taken protein powder in 2 years, and haven't noticed a negative change in my physique at all/
I prob get 100-150 grams protein per day.
Total Calories and meal timing are King IMO

The most I remember spending at a single time was $225-250 in 1997 dollars. I remember it was Metaform, EAS, and multi-vitamins.
I remember the EAS stuff was the old Phospagain that came in the old #10 tin can and looked like a instant potato mix more than a supplement.
I'm rather proud that I only got burnt by over priced supps, but not by any bad ones. The old absolutely cheesy supp I bought was a $12 bottle of Twinlab Andro-fuel.
