Looks good and is a nice (technological) leap forward from its predecessor.
...Toyota says the new car completed the government‘s test cycle with an economy rating of 51 m.p.g. in city driving and 48 m.p.g. on the highway. Combined mileage came out at an industry-leading 50 m.p.g. In much of the nation these days, you can fill the Prius’s 11.9-gallon tank for less than $20.
But get this: in my road testing of the new Prius, I managed 69 m.p.g. That happened on a 34-mile route of mostly stop-and-go driving, at an average speed of 27 m.p.h. A journalist who drove the same route averaged even better — 74 m.p.g. — although he admitted to driving so far below the speed limit on public roads that he considered himself lucky to have survived...
When gas prices go back up, you’ll wish you had one.

When appraising a vehicle like the Prius the comparison is not between it and every other vehicle out there. Rather it is between the Prius and other vehicles in its class; that is to say, other hybrids. With that in mind the new Prius looks good and is a nice evolution from its two predecessors. More importantly, when gas prices go back up (and we all know they will) you’ll wish you had one. ;D

ehhh i drive a 5.4 liter V8 crew cab truck it was pretty painful and expensive when gas was like 4 bucks a gallon but you adjust car pull more drive less. I would still rather drive my truck then that ugly thing, make a truck that gets that gas milage that isnt 40k and ill snag one of those.

It is safe to say you are not the target audience for the Prius. Fair enough. Enjoy your V8 truck. :)

Which would you rather have... the new Prius or the new Honda Insight (hybrid)?

Why is a V8 crew cab truck driving guy like you even paying attention to vehicles like the Prius that you are not interested in?
If the FCX Clarity were sold in my city, I would buy one! Alas, for now it is only being leased in Southern California. Note: it does not run on gasoline!

Too late. http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=128181.msg2292381#msg2292381
When you decided to hide your interest in bodybuilding and take down the Ronnie Coleman poster in your apartment (which you obviously admired enough to put up in the first place) because you were afraid of what your friends and guests would say, you forever branded yourself a "pussy." But don't worry. There are plenty of you out there; perhaps you'll find safety in numbers. ::)
By the way, you’ll find that life is a lot more enjoyable when you stop making decisions based on fear of what your “friends” will say.

I'd prefer a Honda Insight than the Prius. The Prius seems to be more of a fashion statement these days. Show off to the public that you care about the environment. And i think the Insight looks a bit better.
The FCX is a pretty amazing car. You may have seen it, but here's a good clip from TopGear about the FCX.

That might be your motivation for driving one, but it is silly to ascribe that to thousands of other Prius drivers. You have no idea what is motivating them. Have you sat in the new Insight? Several people who have, have complained about the interior space; they say it is cramped compared to the Prius--especially the rear seat and getting in and out of the vehicle.

That's true. Bit of a generalisation on my part. I haven't sat in the Insight, but i have been in the previous model Prius a few times and i was always impressed with the cabin space. Quite roomy.

Then beware. The insight is likely to disappoint you. At 6'2" I pay a lot of attention to cabin roominess and all the press reports so far say the Insight is not as roomy as the Prius.
Yep, I've seen the video(s) on the CFX. I'm impressed to put it mildly. It's easy to tell that Rick Wagoner is not in charge at Honda or Toyota. ::)

Correct me if i am wrong, but are they only selling the FCX is California still?
I'm in Australia, so it will be a while before we see any FCX's on the road. Though i doubt many Aussie's would buy one. We're pretty similar to you guys in the States, most people still like driving around in big cars. Fuel prices are going up, but there will always be a demand for bigger/powerful cars here in Aus.
I guess i should just enjoy it while it lasts....... :-\

The FCX is not for sale. It can be leased in Southern California only.

ah yeah, that's right.
Southern California only? Would be pretty hard to get your hands on one.....
