Most people are a combination of different somatotypes.

Ectomorph = tall, skinny (it's pretty obvious to tell if you are an ecto). Fast metabolism, making gains in weight hard.

Endomorph = pear shaped. Narrower shoulders, thick knee/ankle joints and heavy set legs. Slower metabolism, making them prone to fat gains.

Mesomorph = naturally muscular. A pure mesomorph will have good natural muscle size, a relatively fast metabolism yet they can gain/lose weight easier than others and relatively small joints.

Like i said though, you will most likely be a combo of different somatotypes.

I am a mix of meso/endo. The meso somatotype is more dominant though in me.

No.....you are endo/meso.

The endomorphic somatotype may be dominant, but judging from your pics, there is a bit of meso in you.

No clue.  I gain weight easier than most, but I also lose it in the same time frame, I also add muscle quickly which I'm sure contributes to some of the weight gain.

its all bullshit imo.

Everyone has his own "unique" bodytype, metabolism, muscle shape etc. If the "bodytypes" really existed, we would all be the same.

To entirely dismiss a classification system is insane. You're classified as either male or female; according to your logic that means all males and all females look the same...duh!

"bodytypes" are for people who blame being fat or skinny as being "endo" or "ecto".  ::)

exactly, eat too much you are an endo, eat too little and don't workout = ecto
workout and eat right = meso LOL

Bodytypes are also about structure.

Bodytypes are also about structure.

Of course it is, those who try to simplify it to something else don't have a good understanding.

So there are no genetics?

So there are no genetics?

there is, but you can't put people into just 3 categories lmao
skinny, muscular, fat
eample: people just blame their body type for being fat

I know what you mean, but we put things into categories all the time for ease and simplicity. These categories don't make people blame body types for being fat. People do that anyway

Your rationale that people can't be categorized because you don't think so doesn't make sense. Of course they can.

Just because some blame their body type for fatness doesn't effect the fact that the categories are valid. Arguing body types is like disputing someone's height, there's nothing to discuss.

true that

Somatotypes do more than just determine body shape/structure. They also refer to how different bodytypes metabolise food.

e.g meso's generally can gain/lose weight easier than an endo, who has a slower metabolism and is more prone to higher bodyfat levels. Ecto's have very fast metabolisms, so gaining will be harder for them etc etc.....
