I would have thought the opposite, but I heard they cost less in the US?

i envy your car prices in us, its ridiculous cheap, everybody can drive a nice car there, although the prices have gone down in europe  due to the recession.

ok i got it,they don't use the exact same materials and the most important reason is that they have to keep the price down cause the competition is bigger

That sucks  :(

Until I know what it's like to fly down the Autobahn in an S600 AMG my life won't be complete.

HAHA

I live near a stretch of interstate where you can pretty much go as fast as you want.  Never see highway patrol in this area for some reason.  ;D

it's all about the volume baby.

my uncle lives in switzerland, and he said it's cheaper to buy a car here, have it shipped in a container, pay for the customs, taxes, and drive, than it is to buy the same car in germany.

for your first drive on the autobahn you would take a Automatic S600??. A mcmerc SLR 722 would be my second choice :D

I'd have to drive something crazier for my first either a Pagani Zonda F, Ferrari 288 GTO :P, or a 993 Porsche T  ;D

also be happy cruising in a E39 M5

Autobahn is one thing.

I have to drive these roads.

The Roads

As for the world’s best driving road, after their research they’ve decided to look for it in the continental Europe specifically around the alps. They start their quest from Monaco and these roads stand out from the lot.

Col De Turini
(http://www.redlineblog.com/autos/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/tg-col-de-turini-road.jpg)

Col De Turini is a famous mountain top in the south of France and is part of a 32 km rally stage starting from Sospel to La Bollène. It is the highest point in the stage standing at 1607 metres. This stretch of road is one of the most difficult and dangerous but also exciting stages in the WRC. It has the long straights where cars reach upto 180 km/h, 34 challenging hairpins and awesome views - all the things that make for one of the best driving roads in the world.

San Bernardino Pass
(http://www.redlineblog.com/autos/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/tg-san-bernardino-pass-road.jpg)

San Bernardino Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2065 meters in the Swiss Alps connecting the towns of Hinterrhein and Misox. This road has its share of bends and hairpins but is more known for its scenic views and smooth roads. It also has a 6.6 km long tunnel but with a speed limit of 80km/h (50mph).

Davos to Stelvio via Bormio

Heading south from Davos, Switzerland to Stelvio, Italy they found everything they were looking for, what appears to be a driving enthusiasts heaven, the kind of road that brings everything about a car alive - miles of deserted road with breathtaking views, unending number of curves that would test every aspect of the car - steering, power, grip, brakes & handling. Not to forget a few tunnels for those in the mood for some tunnel blasting.

Stelvio Pass

En route to stelvio via Bormio, we cross the Stelvio pass (Passo dello Stelvio), at 2757 meters it is the second highest paved mountain road in the alps. Regarded by the motorists as one of the most challenging roads in the world, it has 60 hairpins with 48 of them on the northern / eastern ramp.

With the roads narrower on the northern side and the hairpins ridiculously tight, this is the toughest part. Roads are very steep on this side of the pass and the ascent is even more tougher with almost zero visibility to oncoming vehicles.

In contrast the southern / eartern ramp has a bit wider and faster hairpins and better road surface which will be more satisfying for those inclined towards less extreme driving.

WTF, ridiculously cheap, a nice car is not cheap here. Just because you might see somebody driving a nice car, they may have leased it or, put the car as more of a priority than say, a nice house, or educaton.

lol, the funny thing is no Aussie's even drink Fosters.

Aussie wine varies heaps in price obviously, though they are a lot more sought after these days.

Melbourne bitter and victoria bitter were popular and coopers but I found it weird how it cost more there for a six pack, and it seemed they nly sold beer in 6 or 18 packs, no 12 or 30 packs.

Well the prices back in the early 80's were better in Europe and you could by any car there for alot less than here.  My friend and I dealt in gray-market cars back then.  We would buy a new car there and get it converted here and then sell it for a very good profit.  A Countach would cost us about $80,000 brand new.  With shipping and then DOT and EPA we would spend another $20,000 to $25,000 and then sold it for $140,000 or so.  The cost of the DOT alone was about $14,000.  We had to replace all the glass and doors.  EPA made us change the exhaust which made it lose about 20 to 30 hp.  Alot of shit but the payoff was good.  We dealt with Mercedes and BMW too.  Had a couple "M" cars to.  They were neat cause they came with a fire extinguisher next to the driver door.  They ended up outlawing gray market cars.  When we first did it it was easy to do then it got harder and harder to register and get a warranty.  But it was fun for about a year or so.

You can't go wrong with a Mercedes. Mercedes is the most inventive car company out there. No other car company spends more on research and gets copied more often.
The very first car ever, that was invented in 1885, was a Mercedes (Karl Benz & Gottlieb Daimler).
