ASL: And your best lifts are?
Ed Coan: Squat 964. Bench 562. 901 deadlift. My best total was 2402 at 218 pound bodyweight at the 1990 or 1991 national's. I'm not sure which one.
ASL: What about your best gym lifts?
Ed Coan: I've never really maxed out in the gym. In the video, you see me do a 975 squat with straps on and a 585 bench. In the deadlift, I've doubled 900.

They would've been measured, relaxed, by his side (just like boxers)...not flexed/tensed/pumped like you would do when measuring your arm for the maximum possible reading.

With all due respect, you don't know what you're talking about. Think about the power needed to clean and snatch the poundages they use. Think about it.
Weightlifters have good verticle leaps.
Also, over the first 20 yards or so, weight lifters will be almost as fast as 100m sprinters - yeh I said it.
Shane Hamman @ 5'9", 375lbs could dunk a basketball, and do a standing back somersault.
I just find it a bit silly that you guys are ripping on OLYMPIC athletes, who are physical specimens for their chosen discipline.

The shot-putter isn't 30% +, he'd be a big mess at that weight, he is in the mid 20's though.
The sprinter is 6-8%.
Here's Dave Tate in the 15-18% range. I think he's in the 275-300lb range.
