Title: Hot Vs Cold
Post by: Nizar on April 15, 2009, 11:26:45 AM

Which is the best environment to train in?  Warm or cold (airconditioned)?

A colder environment would probably be better to help you train longer whilst a heated gym would cause you to hydrate more often and wrap up your training faster. I remember seeing a vid on rampage jackson where the gym he trained in had its temp raised. Of course rampage was more concerned with his cardio than bodybuilding.

I presume a heated environment would be better for fat loss/cardio

What do you guys think?

About 75 degrees would be the warmest I could handle. I wouldn't want it very cold though, because you run the risk of tearing a muscle that is cold.

That being said, I have trained in gyms where the temp is 80 friggin degrees and I just can't function with that much heat.

I prefer a colder room.
You can always add clothes, and in the colder months I usually carry an extra sweatshirt in my gym bag.

I prefer colder.  It might take a couple of extra sets to warm up, but then I have more energy throughout my workout.  When it's too hot, you just feel drained almost immediately.
