So as many of you know I have been dieting for the past month and have dropped about 6-8 pounds. I am technically about half a month ahead of where I was last year, but I have grown bored with the slow progress. So I have decided to drastically cut my calories. I eat pretty much entirely protein and still lift weights and am doing my best to keep as much muscle as I can. My calories the last couple days has been around 1000 calories. So far so good. I am keeping some energy through caffeine pills and the weight is dropping off.
Anyone else try this type of shit?

Have been tempted; this .5 kilos a week thing, though always suggested is fucking slow. I will see how I look by the end of the month.

Yeah i'm going balls to the wall till the end of the month and see how i look. bascially I just want to get down to where I would look better than 95% of people at the pool and then i'll be happy slowly working my way to looking better than 99% of them. ;D

I am so far away from where I want to be, it's insane and even seems impossible...

A few years ago i went from 215 of fat down to 175 and quite good shape in only a little over a month by going hard. The key is finding a way not to drink on the weekends.

I never drink, eat a diet of only green vegetables, nuts, fish and meat and protein shakes and it still just goes so slowly. I am so fat, you'd think at least at these levels it would go quickly. If I had the money and the time I would get my body checked. Something ain't right.

the fat will come off but in a few weeks, the progress will stop completely and you won't be able to cut anymore food

So what is the plan after that?
-
So what is the plan after that?
you will have to do cardio
if you are not natural, there are always a few things you can do.
-up the clen
-up the t3
-up the cardio
-drop food (you can't do that as you already eat very little amounts of food)
-
the fat will come off but in a few weeks, the progress will stop completely and you won't be able to cut anymore food
Why do I feel like the only genetic freak with the inability to get lean? :-\

do you at least see your abs ?

Hell no. I have never seen my abs, don't even know if I have any. I am over 20%. :-\

Yeah i've been doing slight cardio now and plan on upping it. I'm natural and am not looking to get in contest shape or anything, just a nice six pack for the summer and the ability to join the lean face club :D
-

if you are over 20% and you really eat how you say you do, you should get yourself checked !

than cardio is the way to go 8)
I am doing 2 hours a day right now.

Well, I have only been eating like that for a little over a week. Maybe I need to go for months and months to get results? ???

Your diet seems really good. How long have you been on it and how much have you lost.
-
Yeah it takes some time to lose weight. 1 week won't get it done even though i am trying like hell to make it happen.
-

Well, now I have been consistent with that kind of intake for over a week now and I have only dropped a pound or so. Started doing cardio too. I think I am a genetic freak in the sense that my body hates dropping fat. I will just try to continue for another week and make adjustments if my body composition doesn't change. :-\
-

lol of course, you won't see shit in a week.
if you are over 20%, you will need 3-4 months to see your abs well

You just got to roll with the genetics. I got screwed in that I carry a lot of weight in the spare time/muffin top area. It is really hard for me to get lower abs.
-
Have been tempted; this .5 kilos a week thing, though always suggested is fucking slow. I will see how I look by the end of the month.
See your problem is that you're thinking in kilos. If you would think in pounds, it would be much much easier on your mind. ;D

Christ you are the most impatient person on here.
Set yourself out a 12-16 week plan. 1 week and you have only dropped a pound ::)
Go to http://www.parrillo.com/publications.asp and start reading about how to diet properly. Stick on a diet for at least 3 months and then see if you are a "genetic freak"

there was that guy that just drink water for 25 days.
starvation-diet.com it doesn't work any more, maybe he got fat again? :-\

I got this app called "Lose It" for the iphone...it tracks your calories and physical activities and uses your RMR (estimated) to figure out if you are in a caloric deficit or not. I really like and find it useful for pushing yourself to lose weight if you are honest with it.
-
Didn't look at it from that perspective...
Remember, you can always do more cardio, but you cannot always lower your calorie intake with cutting more and more & more!
You should always do more cardio before you cut calories. Only when you peak at cardio should you cut your calories.
If you are doing too much cardio (didn't read to see your actual time per session) and your calories are already low as you say....then you are not following something correctly.
You can lie to us and say you're eating 1500cals/day, doing 2hrs of cardio a day and not losing any weight...
...but you can't lie to yourself and still be happy. If you are not losing weight, you are not doing something correctly!

Doing HIIT...and it has only been a week. We'll see how it goes.

Diet can be just as effective as cardio. I don't have time to do an hour of cardio per day and 1.5 hours of wt. Cardio is def not the end all be all. If you can't lose weight eating less than 2000 cals per day and working your ass off lifting in the gym, you got the shit end of the stick in the metabolism dept. A clean, sub, 2000 cal diet should allow one to lose weight when coupled with wt, and even moderate levels of cardio. If not your genetics blow. If your doing over 30 min of cardio per day, training with weights, eating low-cal and clean and you cant lose weight....just accept that you have shitty genetics. I will never be 225 ripped natural....it is what it is.
-

but, if you just what an iphone, just get a first gen. and hack it. Or buy an ipod touch.

I agree. Genetics.

th eproblem with diet compared with cardio is that dieting (reducing calories) reduces your metabolism... the less you eat the less you burn...eventually you adapt and you have to drop calories even further.... but if you eat maintanence calories and do cardio to create your defecit..then younever have to dro your calories below maintanence... and after you reach desired bf% you dont have the big rebound in fat gain..

Would you agree, that is you are of respectable size, and if you are eating less than 2200-2000 CLEAN cals per day. working with weights 60-90 min 4-5 days per week and doing 25-30 min of cardio per day.....and you still cannot lose weight, that your must accept that your genetics are horrid?
2000 cals of clean food over 5 or six meals aint starvin. 8 ounces of chicken has 200 cals in it! 112 grams of wheat pasta has 400 cals! 28 grams walnuts has 200 - etc.
Sample 2000 ish cal diet
1.) 2 scoops isopure - 28 grams walnuts - 1 banana (500 cals)
2.) 8 ounces chicken - 28 grams walnuts (400 cals)
3.) 8 ounces chicken - oatmeal - a tablespoon flax (450)
Train
4.) 2 scoops isopure - 50 grams pasta (400 cals)
5.) 8 ounces fish /chicken
Under 2000 cals...plenty of volume for the metabolism. About 275 grams of protein there.
-

no, because it would be impossible not to lose weight on that, regardless of genetics. :D
-
I agree. Genetics.
dude, you're 25%+ in bodyfat, you are not going to see ANY change after a week
if you are losing 1 pound a week, it will take you 30 weeks to get down to 10%
man up!
your lack of willpower sickens me and Goatboy >:(

what do you mean? ???
-
no, because it would be impossible not to lose weight on that, regardless of genetics. :D
That my point....see the above sample diet. You can eat 2000 - 2500 very cleans cal's per day and there is a ton of volume for your metabolism.
-
any ways..... if you lower your calories you will lose weight
there is no "stavation response" ::) or "metabolic adaptation" ::)
it's all about burning up more calories than you take in at the end of the day
-
what do you mean? ???
its impossible to not lose weight eating controlled/reduced calories and working out and being decently sized at the same time
That my point....see the above sample diet. You can eat 2000 - 2500 very cleans cal's per day and there is a ton of volume for your metabolism.
volume as in food volume? well volume of fodd isnt really correlated with metabolism. circulating levels of the thyroid hormone t3 are what directs metabolic rate. this is influenced mainly by glucose/carb intake.... the more carbs you eat the more t3 you have, the less carbs you eat the less t3 you have... althoguh of course there is a ceiling and a floor to the min/max levels of t3 youll get... but basically your adapt to the amount of calories yoru eating...

increase calories, to repair , but dont stop training, get your body in a rhythm of living working out and a lean non dieting person, thus use the plethora of fuel. on diet u dry out your fat, water, carb and sodium stores. you are leaner but unrepaired thus progress will stop so actually resume to normal eatingst BUT step UP your training and find yourself flying higher then before...

I don't care if the calories are clean or dirty. I don't care if you eat strictly or not. If you are not burning what you put in your body (the old calories in versus calories out debate) you will NOT lose weight. Simple as that.
Now, I'm not going to argue what you LOOK like, but if the scale is not moving on such a ludicrous plan as some of the guys have mentioned here, it's not your genetics. You are A) lying B) not doing what you think you are or C) an idiot seeking attention via GetBig to up your post count.
-

i wasnt trying to 'own' you. and there is some truth to your diet having a good effect on metabolism. frequent feeding sof protein does increase metabolism a bit, because the digestion of protein does use up quite a bit of calories by itself. vegetables are also great for this... its called the "thermic effect of feeding" (calories used for digestion)..
-

it's not rocket science, eat less, move more

the biggest problem is aiming for a weightloss by scale
the more 'inshape ' you become , generally the more heavier and leaner you become also, to keep up with working outs that got u in good shape in the first place. think of the compounding muscle stimulation meaning that u should aim to be HEAVIER not lighter over a PERIOD OF A LOONG TIME until you reach your goal. when u eat less u are not GARANTEED a GAINING training session the next time u train and possibly have a shitty 3 set workout because u dont have energys

thuse the goal is to have a shitload of working out per weak, and increasing amounts month by month, THE KEY IS TO HAVE A CONSISTENT HIGH AVERAGE OF TRAINING AND TIME TRAINING ECT OVER A PERIOD OF TIME[/glow]

You're missing the point. Cardio is not the end all be all (as you stated). I said you can do it with diet....if you do it right. You don't HAVE to do cardio for hours and hours. Did you even READ the first post that I wrote? I'm saying that the way to weightloss is caloric deficit and cardio is not the only way to do that.

if a huge heavy guy did cardio for hours and hours and ate enough to sustain this hours and hour cardio, hed be fucking ripped provided he wasnt sitting or laying around the rest of the day thats when where, the bodys demand for food uptake is NILL

eating right, good genes,
incredible self loathing, and tabata protocol > starvation diet

I've been dieting on 2,000-2,200 cals a day and about 40 minutes (500 calories) on the elliptical a day. Non lifting days I do two 40 minute sessions of 500 calories for a total of 1,000 calories burned through cardio.
Been dropping weight steady and leaning out and guess what I haven't lost any strength or muscle. I eat pretty much whatever but exclude sugars and if I have to eat rice I do it early. I just had some lasagna right now with a coors light. Arby's is also a staple in my diet but I just have the roast burger with double meat but no fries and with diet soda and it runs at 560 calories. Eating food high in protein and fat keep me full, sometimes for up to 6-7 hours at a time when I have a busy day.
It ain't rock science, guys. I think some of you just diet halfassedly and fail and you blame genetics, lack of t3 and whatever other shit you can find. Stop rationalizing your failures to evoke pity, because all you are doing is continuing to be fat while coming off as pathetic.
I will add the ECA stack next week at 12.5 mg ephedrine(half a Bronkaid), 200 mg caffeine and aspirin 2x a day

Falcon, what do you think is the best low calorie beer? I've been sipping Coors light but am looking for other options.
Also been jerking off daily for extra thermo effect and I think that's helped alot.

well more calories the beer has the more alcohol
beer is good even cheep beer
malt liquor doesnt do it anymore for me but a regular old cheap ingredient budweiser will provide energy

is the HIT training program really the ideal program to lose weight? i have never done it for more than a week.
also i agree about the cardio. i used to only do cardio the last 2-4 weeks of my summer diet, depending on how strict i was being before that.
what is your eating schedule, deicide? consistency is another key thing well at least for me it was. i come from a family of fat fucks, and i am currently a fat fuck or as like to be called pleasantly fat, so i had to be consistent. this is my problem now, is the lack of it.
as far cutting a bunch of calories to lose weight fast, i don't think that is a great idea either. because you will hit a wall which will be hard to rebound from. healthy fat loss is like 2 pounds a week or a kilo.
well back to my zitti and complaining about how i can't lose weight ;D
-
Bingo on this post. You don't need cardio to get lean. Cardio lets you eat more food (because you're weak). It's like taking two steps forward, one back. Wasted effort and time. Cut out the food, lift heavy weights, and you will consistently lose weight.
First, the weight training will preserve lean tissue, keeping metabolic rate high. Muscle is active tissue, so T3 levels aside, that's going to need to burn calories to stay active. That's your key right there. And nothing is more anti-catabolic on a starvation diet than weight training. Studies where subjects consumed less than 1200 calories (male wrestlers) for more than 8 weeks preserved and even added muscle in some cases thanks to a weight training program, versus placebo.
So cardio isn't necessary. Do it if you want, or like to. But it's a joke way of burning fat, truly. Lift weights. Far more effective for fat burning. The EPOC of weight training is off the charts compared to steady state cardio. It beat HIIT cardio. It beats steady state.
For what it's worth, most bodybuilders back in the day didn't do regular cardio. They just ate less carbs, ate more meat, trained longer in the gym with weights (2-3 hours/day), and that was that.
Cardio is boring monotonous pointless work. I'd rather starve on low cals than do cardio. It works too. I do it all the time to get lean.
QFT.
Doing cardio is solely a matter of convenience.
-
Hold up, so you can eat as low as 1200 cals and preserve muscle? I thought max of 500-1000 below maintanance is as low as one should go otherwise you lose allot of muscle.
Anyone here have any experience with dropping cals real low below maintanance i.e. more than 1k and still decently holding onto muscle naturaly?

how long do i plan to diet or how long have i been dieting? been dieting 2 weeks, noticeably thinner in the face and my love handles have shrunk.
my waist is 38 around the bellybutton, i was pretty shocked at this because it doesnt look like it. im wondering if it is my lower back muscle that increases the measurment or that i am fatter than i think.

I think all of us who are too fat are always astounded at just how fat we actually are. I know I am. Sounds good though. I honestly think consistency is the key. Months and months of it. I am going to try to go full stop and spend the next 4-5 months doing it.

sample diet for a day
2 egg yolks 4 egg whites
2pcs of whole wheat toast or some oatmeal
can of tuna and a little rice or ww chex
some chicken and toast( i am a lazy cooker, toast is easy)
and i eat 6 times a day, try to keep around 300 cals per meal

Honestly, there is no a way that I can 1,000K calories for more than 1 day. What does that look like? 1 can of tuna, 1 slice of bread and 3 peanuts?
How do you find the strength to walk around let alone actually work out?

i sure hope it doesn't take me months to diet down...i am not going for contest shape. right now steve namat hasnt even started dieting and his abs show, i would be very happy with BF level like that.
but when you think about it, it takes a 3000 calorie defecit to lose a lb of fat.
20x3000 is 60,000 calorie defecit..damn.

Update on my starvation progress:
I've been eating about 1000-1300 calories a day almost entirely protein. I am feeling good and still have energy. I started tuesday weighing 192 pounds and today I weighed 187.8. Things are going well. I do notice I get very sore after lifting as I assume my body doesn't have the nutrients to recover as quickly. I ran today and was able to put up my best time of the season. Strength remains pretty good. Will keep you all updated.

When it starts to get to you and it will, try adding a salad half the size of your kitchen table...
2 heads of lettuce
2 large cucumbers
1 large red onion
1/4 cup of dry Almonds
1/4 cup of croutons
And make your own salad dressing with some Apple cidar vinegar and hot sauce or if you don't use Almonds in your salad use Olive oil with the ACV and hot sauce...
Eat this thing when your cravings are the worst(mostly at night)....YOu will almost feel guilty eating something so big ;)

the fat will come off but in a few weeks, the progress will stop completely and you won't be able to cut anymore food
So in reality, you have become a cortisol-producing macjine, which we know is VERY BAD for a bodybuilder. Very low carbs (calories), plus stimulants to replace the energy is the approach that fat 200 pound women come into GNC, looking to implement. You need to practice opposites.
Yates & Haney Never cut their carbs like that, HORMONES are very powerful, and your body is producing ALOt of cotisol (catabolic hormone), because of the ultra low calories & stimulants. The low calories (lack of carbs) are shutting down your metabolism, and eating away at you muscle. The stimulants are not solving the problem. ALL STIMULANTS are catabolic. So you are like a boat, that has 2 holes in it, sinking.
Yates ALWAYS talked about not going to extremes. this NEVER works, except for a week or 2 before a show. But you will chew up WAY TOO MUCH muscle mass on the "Extreme diet + stimulants"

yates did extremes.
and yates used a shitload of "stimulants" (counting thyroid as a stimulant).

Good thoughts. I always use hot sauce as salad dressing. Some times I mix in a little balsamic vinegar to cut it if it gets too hard on my stomach. I know what you mean about feeling guilty. I ate a yogart yesterday, 80 calories and I felt like a complete fatass.

I don't know why you adressed your post to me, I do not do a "starvation" diet

I don't know why you adressed your post to me, I only do a "fresh-sperm" diet

than cardio is the way to go 8)
I am doing 2 hours a day right now.
dude, how the fuck do you do that? I have to admire the work ethic but fuck, 2 hours on a treadmill... I'd just get tired of standing for so long. what makes this necessary? And how is it optimal anyway? I thought cardio should be minimal if one wants to retain muscle mass ???

:o
some sick fantasies you have there, depussey ::)

If i had it in me to do 2 hrs a day of cardio i wouldn't have to starve myself. But since I currently do about 30 minutes or cardio 2-4 times a week i got to get thin by not eating.

You nailed me Debussey. I'm a homosexual and a muslim, but can't be open about it because that will get my head cut off by my imam.
