So what do liberals and enviro-nazi's want to do:
1. Ban drilling for domestic oil.
2. Cut off areas for exploration of oil and natural gas
3. Propose gas taxes and mileage taxes
4. Bow down to the King of SA
5. Ban nuclear power plants.
6. Propse energy taxes in the form of a cap and trade tax.
Just brilliant as usual.

1. We have 10s of thousands of capped wells of oil and natural gas. we dont need to drill more until we see a need for it.

hey dumb fuck OIL IS 20th century energy why spend money on oil production when we KNOW the world energy is going in a new direction... Maybe you should invest money into some betamax players and beta tapes...
Hydro, Wind, Solar etc... are the FUTURE not freggin oil..

There is no other energy source like oil...the nest best thing is COAL...I do't know what the HELL busted is talking about. All of the LIES about green fuels is just that....LIES, The world will use oil until it DIES.

No one is denying that but to think that we should just stop searching and drilling for new sources of oil is absurd. We don't have anything that could take it's place at the present time. There is a transition that's taking place but people need to stop getting their panties in a bunch untill alternatives can match the energy output of oil.

Consumption is down 7% and they're complaining about lost tax revenue.
In a way, Trump is right. $4/gas probably slowed down people's ability to pay other bills and credit cards.

The state of California is raising various involuntary taxes to offset what it lost by that 7% reduction in consumption.

While I can't think of any one thing that matches the diversity of oil, the future does lie elsewhere,
...at least for the OECD countries. Currently our infrastructure is around oil, and it's going to take some time for that to change, ...however, it MUST change. Biofuels are not the answer, ...they sound good at face value, but no matter how "green" they are touted to be, ...aren't. The only thing they are is renewal and available domestically. There's nothing green about an energy source that puts out more environmental pollutants than it's predecessor, or that diverts land use from food production to energy production... in a nation full of hungry people.
The challenge was the increasse was too steep too fast. And while American oil consumption has fallen, overall world oil consumption has not. the issue with oil is not that we are running out of it, ...it is that we cannot produce, refine and bring it to market quickly enough to meet current demand, or future demand.
In order to increase production, oil prices have to be higher and remain there in order for oil cultivation to be profitable, ...otherwise you might as well leave it in the ground.
Make no mistake, ...the price is going back up, ...maybe not as quickly, ...but it will do that, ....it has to if it is going to meet the demand which right now is being dictated by China & India. What's more America cannot compete with India or China for the oil. So unless you want to be paying upwards of $5 / gallon which WILL happen, you need to gain independence from foreign oil. Obama is doing the right thing. It should have been done back when Carter suggested it, ...but when you have an oil man in the whitehouse, sensible energy policy or one that moves away from oil isn't going to take place soon. Right now, you're playing catch up almost 40 yrs too late.
The kind of infrastructure investment required to wean America off oil is going to be painful, ...but not near as painful as not biting the bullet and doing it now. Oil will always be in demand, but you can reduce your dependency on it.
Unfortunately, alot of the elites and many politicians have bought into bio-fuels (literally & figuratively) and are looking to protect their investments (fiscally & politically) so who knows where it will lead, but wind farms are a good start, if you can get past the nimby syndrome.

Considering the treasonous outting of Valerie Plame, the only person in a position to gauge the state of affairs vis-a-vis Saudi production capacity, ...there may be even more bowing to SA from all over the globe.

It was the lack of regulation, the wild west attitude, and pathological hubris on wall street that did it.
Only about 7% of mortgages were in default. Oil prices were a part of the problem but if the US had built any refineries in over 20 years that would have helped. The far right environmentalists are just as responsible because no one can afford to build a new refinery that complies to the current guidelines.
