Title: The Paleolithic (Caveman) Diet...
Post by: VikingArthur on April 21, 2009, 01:55:36 PM
I know that this is a bit outside the mainstream of thought but I wanted to share this. I have been on this diet for 6 months now and had amazing results. No...I am not trying to sell anything. Ha, Ha.

In December, I made a drastic change to my lifestyle. No, I did not decide to color my hair, get manicures or start listening to Coldplay, I started eating like a caveman.

As a reasonably serious bodybuilder, my diet has been regimented for about ten years. I have been doing all the things that anyone who wants to get big and look like a man should; eating significant protein six to eight times a day, avoiding white sugars and devouring lean meats. I had always eaten more than my fair share of oatmeal, whole grain bread and rice. To me, eating a good amount of grains was an essential element of getting big. I was wrong. Mainstream thought on this subject is wrong. Grains are garbage and have no place in the human diet.

I would be happy to answer any questions about this.

or better yet post a pic and a vid of some of your max efforts in the gym...

if you're some 260 lb guy that's  benching 315 for a single and struggling with 1.5 x his body weight pulling deads or squatting, you still fall into the "average joe" category....

and I'm guessing that with all that red meat with grain or fiber NOT in your diet that your colon looks like a play doe factory

grain is a horrible soruce of fiber.... what like 2 grams for every 30 grams of carbs? thats pathetic... fiber comes from vegetables and soem fruits... grain is totally unecessary and not a good source of anything except glucose...

I love the Paleo Diet and am hardly a pussy in the gym.  Check my profile for links to my blog.

As for the fiber comment, Loren Cordain mentions frequently throughout his book that Paleolithic peoples regularly ate 100-150g of fiber a day, and recommends an exceedingly high fiber intake.  I've never gotten that high, but I've gotten into the 70-100g per day range.

If you want a brief rundown of the Paleodiet, I've got one on my blog:  http://chaosandpain.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html (http://chaosandpain.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html)

Combined with Metabolic Typing, Parrillo, and newer studies showing that megadosing protein can be highly beneficial, it's definitely useful.
