Ummmmmm maybe all the other countless examples of government corruption, tyranny, lies, disinformation.  Operation Northwoods is just a drop in the bucket dude.  Google Operation PaperClip, USS Liberty, and thousands of other sketchy examples.

It's been covered a few times here and the basic excuse was that it didn't happen-it wasn't ok'd and it's something that happed a long time ago.
