I can normally deadlift 405x8/10 reps with the one hand over, one hand under grip. Tried today for first time in ages to deadlift with double overhand grip, i moved the bar about an inch off the floor and had to put it down!
I think my grip sucks, but i don't want to keep using alternate hand grip incase i damage my biceps. :'(
At the moment i swap which arm is doing the underhand grip inbetween sets to make sure grip is developed evenly.
I've seen people lift super heavy poundages with double overhand grip and no straps, how do they build their grip up that strong?! do you have to use chalk
>:( :(
-
I'd lay off the heavy weights.
It's really dangerous

get some straps
but i would advise against not doing heavy deadlifts, no need to, very dangerous also
-
i never do deadlifts. never believed in them.
-
its because they have always used the double over hand grip, so they are used to it.

First: back off the weight 10-20%
Then : Put the weight back down after one rep, stand up, repeat the rest of your set like that.
The rest gives you forearms ( & lower back) that little more time to recuperate between reps. It also ensures you don't bounce out of alignment while trying to 'touch' the ground as your end-of-rep marker.
It's that simple.

i have a pretty good grip naturally.

just because deadlifting is tough doesn't mean you shouldn't perform :D

if you do alternate grip for years you WILL tear your biceps at some point, it's like riding a motorbike, you will crash one day it's inevitable.
