way too tough. I may have had a little over an ounce but under 2 for sure. I am looking at 5-15 years without a plea. I am just hoping for the best.

Fool you better take a plea and shoot for 16 with half. Take that thing to the box and wind up sitting there for 8 years. Dont be stupid.

Believe me I don't want to go but I got busted a few days ago with a felony amount of weed and pipes and grow lights. They found grow lights but I wasn't growing anything. They were packed in the closet. It was the drug task force and they were all in swat gear and masks. It is bad times right now at the Windsor88 house. I am just hoping for the best but I have shitty luck. All of this from an "anonymous" tip. I know who did it but can't do shit about it. I hope I got a helluva attorney.

My advice: don't take a plea. But better yet, get a good lawyer and take his or her advice.
In all types of legal matters, the police, crown attorney [DA in the USA], or citizen charging you will always grossly overcharge in cases they know they cannot prove. This is done to obtain leverage for possible plea scenarios. Understanding some of the unofficial workings of the law like that are beneficial to anyone going through the legal system.
In Ontario, you would likely not see a courtroom for under two ounces of marijuana. Judges openly refuse cases that are that petty.

Case in point, a story recently in my city where someone did nine months of house arrest for 10 pounds of marijuana. I've heard of cases where people got off with less than that.

I read about a case that was published in a local paper about a man who was convicted of manslaughter (I believe vehicle related) and was not given jail time. 12 months house arrest..fine, probation. but no jail time. I was shocked..
its harder to go to jail in canada..

well they have a year to file charges so I am sure I will be waiting for awhile.
I am pretty much in shock over this and my wife is suffering too. That makes it really hard for me. I am not a drug dealer. Never sold anything in my life. I just smoke pot. Well...I used to anyway. I just do not understand why it is OK for someone with some bullshit medical marijuana card to smoke but I can't.
I co-operated with the cops and showed them where it was. Hell..I thought they had the wrong house and were looking for a meth lab which is not unusual in Missouri. I really think I hung myself by being honest. But hey guys...thanks for your concern and if I do go to the pokey I will make sure I represent GetBig to the fullest. Maybe Ron can pull some strings for me. ???

It was a family member on my wifes side that was holding a grudge. They said it was an anonymous tip that came on a hotline. I know damn well who did it. >:(
The only thing that keeps me from confronting this individual is my wife. That and I want my freedom. There will come a day though where they will have to face the consequences just like I am now. Karma is a bitch.

Windsor, do you have clean record or previous "issues"? this can be a major influence on the case
also get a good lawyer, hopefully you can afford one, and as others have stated don't take the plea deal until push comes shove. fight, fight , fight and they will offer a better deal

Remember that is also benefits counsel on both sides, in order to reduce the number of trials by jury/judge. If everyone decided that they wanted their day in court, the backlog would be decades (like in India) and the costs enormous so they tell almost everyone to take a plea, even tho some would probably be successful in being found not guilty.

I don't like going to work and paying taxes either. But I do. Maybe the laws are strict? Common sense should keep people from making such unwise decisions. My friend a Chef in Thailand taught me that there's signs all around us telling us right from wrong. We just have to take our head out of our asses to see them. Straighten up and fly right.

I remember this. This the case where Special Ed gave you a bunch of free legal advice that helped you keep your milk-white ass out of jail and you 'repaid' him by running downs Jews, denying the Holocaust, and talking about how 'they' were ruining the world economy - all whilst using another Jewish guy's site to do it ::)

Haven't gone through the thread yet, but an oz of what? Blow? I've gotten caught with an oz of weed... got it as a spur of the moment thing because it's a rare crop and a short distance home. Got pulled over and my buddy also had an oz, half an oz of crack, a scale and a bunch of baggies. Cops took the weed and gave me a huge scare, but I know they just kept it to smoke as they never filed any sort of report. The coolest thing is when I drove home I checked my glove box and the cop left a small nugget in an empty Tylenol container!!!! Even though he's a cop, I know a ton of stoners that work for the RCMP.
I don't have any large amounts any more, but I regularly had a few pounds on me (not at home) at all times. It's not a big deal in BC at least... cops know. They just go after the bigger guys. My friend usually had upwards of 20lbs in his trunk which was fucking insane, I know... been doing it for almost 10 years now and FINALLY got busted (weed, coke, shrooms, crack, research chems, heroin, fake scripts, etc)...... hopefully windsor gets off easily. If it's a first time offense then it shouldn't be bad.

Never buy growing materials from a grow store. (lights, containers, so forth) You can get very good results with lights, hydroponic solutions (Miracle Gro water soluble fertilizer) obtained from a hardware store.
Look for a gardening book that will tell you how to grow indeterminate tomatoes and follow those instructions, (fertilizers, container prep and most importantly, topping) and you will grow good marijuana. If anyone sees your accoutrements, it is just stuff from the hardware store, and nothing from the grow store that screams out, "I grow weed!"....
Of course, I have never grown or used marijuana myself...

I got popped about 10 years back and all i had was personal shit and the shit they found in my safe was thrown out cause they didn't have a warrent........It all depends on what kind of deal your lawyer can get for you.
Don't ever give the pigs shit, cause they can't anything they promise you at the time........Always keep your mouth shut until you get your lawyer or at least a public defender and they're useless focks also but better than working a deal on your own...

Hiding stuff somewhere outside your house is a good idea.
I used to use a spot inside a mall bathroom that nobody ever found (attached some velcro behind the air conditioning duct)
Slept better that way.

That is what happened SS. I fucked this dudes girlfriend. It just so happened to be my wifes sister. That is a different set of problems. Good news is I talked with my attorney and he seems to think I will be OK and stay out of prison at least. I have a vacation in Cancun planned on May 10th so I may die from Swine flu first. ;D
