Title: Automotive/Electronic Q?
Post by: Eyeball Chambers on April 27, 2009, 05:20:31 PM
The fuse for the front window circuit on my car blows immediately when I turn the car "On".

I took the "Window Control Module" out and popped the cover off of it.  I found one diode that looks like it blew?  Could that be causing the front window circuit fuse to blow?

 ??? ???

ground issue or faulty diode or bad wire

It's a 97 C230 Mercedes

Yeah, I'm using the correct size fuse.  The diode I was talking about is also completely blown/broken in half.  :(

OK cool thanks, I didn't know if the blown diode could be what was causing this or not.  I'll see if I can get a replacement to solder in, and if not I'll buy the $100+ dollar Window Control Module.  :(

Good idea! Will a ball-peen hammer work?

I'll report back and tell you if it worked.

I use a rrubber mallet to whack the starter on the underside of my 1970 302 boss mustang hardtop....starts it well, especially when it is cold out

i thought those had a separate door control module, sounds like you have it with the faulty diode though.

I would have gone to my friend with his diagnostic tool and gone from there.
