If energy supplies contract and prices of energy go up, creating a situation of stagflation, then no he won't.  It will be exactly like Jimmy Carter.:

1) Jimmy Carter was elected as a reaction against a reviled president, (Nixon)
2) Jimmy Carter used the OPEC situation to restrict the supplies of petroleum and raise prices to enforce reduction in demand.
3) Jimmy Carter helped moribund new nuclear power.
4) Jimmy Carter's administration was in power during unprecedented inflation in the United States.
5) Jimmy Carter extolled extended deprivation and "doing without"(things like taking bulbs out of half of all the lighting fixtures in public places)

Ronald Reagan (whom I didn't like and did not vote for):
1) Had the hot water turned on in the public restrooms.
2) Had the lighting schemes of public building restored.(Put bulbs in all the fixtures)
3) Contrived to slash the price of energy,(and wreck the Houston economy for half a decade) and increase the supply of petroleum.
4) Presided over an economic up-tick as a result of his action that lasted through the Clinton administration.

I personally like Obama's health insurance ideas, and wanting to impede the treasonous exporting of our manufacturing base overseas.
However, I see him a being regarded as a twenty first century Jimmy Carter.

At this point not a chance. Today being his 100th day shows he has the second lowest approval rating of any modern day president. That and reports as of today the economy shrinking over 6% since he took office. The most in over 50 years, but you won't hear the mainstream talk about that.

Here's the thing, though.

The worse the economy gets, the more poor people there are.
Obama keeps giving the poor more free handouts.
All the poor folks know any repub will give them less $, obviously.
Poor people are more likely to vote dem, as a rule.

So the worse the economy is, the more poor people there will be.
Obama's making his voting base LARGER with the poor economy.

Agree or disagree, he's growing his voter base Joe.

Oh FFS!! do you honestly expect people to take you seriously when you make comments like that...I dont think ive ever seen someone who thrives so much on generalisations and stereotypes. To be honest it pisses me off because im a mild conservative on many issues and when I read your shit it just makes me feel like the conservative movement has completely lost its way. No doubt you'll treat us to a plethora of Rush Limbaugh transcripts over the coming weeks to prove your conservative credentials  ::)

I'm surprised you'd write something like that.

Who do you see beating Obama in an election?  :-\

Regardless if you like Obama or not, it's pretty clear that the guy is a, for lack of better words, a superstar.

He will win any election almost regardless how he does as a president.

He's like a Lance Armstrong, a Phelps or a Usain Bolt.

And the guy is just some inexperienced senator out of Illinois.

That's pretty amazing IMO.

So I just don't see him losing, sorry.

Without a doubt he is going to win again.  In order to lose, that would first require the other party to actually have a candidate out front.  They don't.

At some point, when the economy does not pick up..or pick up fast enough..all those independents that won the race for him...will leave, some dems will leave....those that aren't lib nutbags will leave or not vote...it will be Bush fatigue in reverse.

It's way too early to tell.  At the 2 year mark is a better measuring point to speculate on his chances for re-election.

100% correct. Its the reason he is purposely trying to tank the economy and take over the banks and take over the car industry. The more that people depend on the government the better it is for democrats.

However,if they pass cap and trade and peoples utility bills go through the roof, then he might have a problem.People are against global warming UNTIL they have to pay for it.

It seems the general population is ignoring the fact that their tax money is being spent a record levels, the national debt will be nearly doubled by the end of his term and the economy has not improved.  Without the stimulus, many predicted we'd be out of the recession by the fall... so if it takes till fall/winter to get out of the recession, I don't think you can say, with certainty, that the stimulus played a major role.  I don't think these things will hit people until they see the tax hikes that are likely to come next year.
I am curious to see whats going to happen with health care...thats going to be a bear.

Right now, I'd say Obama would be re-elected...most people like the guy but if the economy isn't significantly better next year and/or taxes start to go up, he will loose a lot of independents and non-party affiliated people.
