Title: Sandow Trophy....
Post by: Incubi on May 04, 2009, 03:31:42 AM
Back the 80's a past Mr. O sold one of his Sandow Trophies due to financial hardship,
Who was it?
Who owns it?
Whats its value today?
Did he just own one?

How much would a Sandow go for on ebay or at auction? ???

When hard times hit a few years ago tennis great Bjorn Borg tried to sell a few of his Wimbledon trophies and tennis rackets...

They can't be sold now but once or twice some old Oscar statuettes were sold at auction and snagged a million dollars.

It would depend - if it's one of Arnie's it would fetch a much higher price cause of his celebrity status. But otherwise, I'd say anywhere between $5000 - $20,000 or maybe even a bit higher - purely guessing there.

Not quite as much as Nasser's used underwear.

much closer here.

I'd also say it won't get a grand. It's not an Oscar, after all.

Yes, having gimmicks is not dangerous as long as you don't think of yourself as "we".

Why not?

Jaguarenterprises can probably fill in the details, but I believe that the winner signs a contract agreeing that the Oscar can never be sold.  It can be returned to the Academy (and some of them have been) but it can never be exchanged for monetary value.   I believe it can be given away (how likely is that?), bequeathed to an heir (happens all the time), but auctioned for sale?  No.

There were a couple Oscars floating around that predate the “no sale” rule and those were occasionally sold; the last time one of them came up for sale at auction, Stephen Spielberg bought it for a cool million and then immediately donated it back to the Academy.

I can't see a Sandow selling for more than $10K and even them I'm not sure who would buy it.  Schmoes will pay for fle$h not a trophy. :D

can the sandow be used as a dildo?  if not, i'd estimate its value at zero.

I wonder what one could get at, say, a Pawn Shop, for a Sandow......I doubt they'd know who it is, and what it stands for.
