The "black community" needs to grow up and stop this hatred.
-
I find it disturbing that these people are so hostile when the only thing at stake here is equal rights.
-
This still needs to be approved by Congress. I guess the DOMA did not apply to DC?? Will be interesting to see what Congress does.
-
how ironic
-
Nothing ironic about it. The population of DC residents are is overwhelmingly Black,
...therefore the majority of DC residents against the measure will also be ovewhelmingly black.

Why is the black community overwhelmingly un-accepting of gays? The majority of African Americans I think are against anything Gay and I wonder what factors are contributing to their prejudice.

I've always been curious about that myself? ???

First off this is NOT the Black community speaking..these are church pastors who follow the LAWS OF THE BIBLE in regards to homosexual activity. With Washington DC being 90 percent African American this accounts for why you are seeing these pastors speaking out and no whites. Rest assured though there are MANY white pastors all around america doing the same. America is as DEMORALIZED as it is financially corrupt...I think the best thing to do is allow them to be under the jurisdiction of a heterosexual laws of marriage...once they start breaking up and having to pay alimony..I guarantee you this whole gay marriage thing will disappear like the wind.

I agree, but we cannot deny the fact that homosexuality is least accepted among African Americans and according to this Gallup poll, just as unaccepting as hardline Conservatives.

I would like to figure out why this troubles the black community so and why are they intolerant to such a high degree as well as why do they view it as socially unacceptable among their peer groups as well as all peer groups.

Other than religion, I would like to know the basis of their prejudice.
