Damn you, stimulus bill!
We're rooting for Obama to fail. Suddenly the DOW is at 8500 and monthly job losses are finally shrinking.
Grrrrrrrrr

Unemployment is up to 8.9%. What happend to all of those "shovel ready" jobs. And oh yeah, say hi to the unemployed at Caterpiller.

Great link illustrating the bullshit on this....

Simply pay attention to headlines and first lines of news stories about the economy (or the war, or anything!). It’s educational! Teach your children how to compare and contrast by studying how first lines can make economic news seem either positive or negative, for fun economic, polling and presidential impact!
Here’s one!
Headline: New jobless claims plunge, retail sales improve.
Sub-header: New jobless claims plunge unexpectedly to 610,000, while retail sales improve in April
New applications for jobless benefits plunged to the lowest level in 14 weeks, a possible sign that the massive wave of layoffs has peaked. Still, the number of unemployed workers getting benefits climbed to a new record.
First line: positive.
Now, let’s look at another news story, this time from 2005:
Headline:
There go 800,000 jobs out the door
Subheader:
UCLA: Housing slump to hit building and finance employment, slow the economy, but no recession seen.
The expected downturn in the housing market could end up costing 800,000 construction and finance jobs, putting a big dent in economic growth over the next two years, a report from UCLA said.
First line: Really, really negative. Incredibly negative. Terrifying.
Yes, that’s right, President Bush would have killed for a “first line positive” on economic stories while he was president; unemployment was 4.8% and tax-revenues were at all-time highs. Instead, during his presidency, we got, “Economists worry about possible downturns, despite 3 percent growth in this quarter.”
Think I’m kidding? Then read this and remember.
Remember this?
Our pals over in the MSM certainly do know how to confuse an issue. Check out these two headlines from the SAME news service, and the SAME writer, one day apart:
Greenspan Gets High Marks Despite Economy
U.S. economy grows at strong 3.8% rate in third quarter, despite hurricanes
That second headline, of course, is from the Canadian press who I suppose have less invested in trying to continually portray the economy as “troubling

obama said the recession would last all year. he also said the number of jobs lost each month would start to lessen.
he was right. Will he continue to be right? Who knows. What we do know so far is that the DOW is up for a 7th straight week, and the bleeding is stopping on job losses. Oh, and 66k new govt jobs for Americans last month, as the stim jobs started coming in.
Facts are facts. if the Dow was DOWN for the 7sth straight week, job loss trend was worsening, and he had slashed 66k govt jobs, you would SURELY be blaming him for it ;)
-
April was the worst job rate in 25 years....yeah things are getting better. Barry wants jobs right, yet he's cutting defense spending including the F22 thats as "shovel ready" as it comes.

Obama said that 3-4 million jobs would be created.....since he's taken office there have been over 6 million lost.
-
Obama is great...it took Bush boy eight years to kill 5 million jobs. pfff...Obama did 6 million in four months...now he is the MAN!!!!

Worst grasp of straws on this board ever. Obama had nothing to do with job losses, it was going to happen before he was even elected into office.

Give it up already. Shit isn't going away, it's just getting swept under the rug.
-
Who's grasping? This is a fact. He promised 3-4 million jobs and it went in the opposite direction.
-
A dose of REALITY regarding unemployment.

adding 66k government jobs is NOT a good thing, you must be joking?
Dude, as long as there is Asia, none of this matters. ;)
-
adding 66k TEMPORARY government jobs is NOT a good thing, you must be joking?
-
Could be that there is mass exodus out of the US in the next few years as the economy worsens. Will be interesting.
-
Dude, as long as there is Asia, none of this matters. ;)
why's that?

Fool. 66,000 of those were temp Govt workers.
-
why's that?
Because there are many decent setups there with decent cash and decent lifestyle for people wth some education. Point is, you'll never starve to death with Asia out there.

please explain how adding government jobs is a good thing. it seems like you are trying to convince yourself things are a-ok, like you are in denial or something.
Fool. 66,000 of those were temp Govt workers.
temporary government jobs are better than permanent ones, less unproductive government jobs sucking up wealth the better, government jobs hurt our economy, don't help it.

I guess. i wouldnt want to live in a non-white country personally, wouldnt feel comfortable in a country thats not 'mine'. i might consider it for a short period if there were a ton of white people there. the US is obviously going to shit but I think we'll survive, our infrastructure is really built up, even if our standard of living goes down 90% we'll still be able to eat.long term(20+yrs) we're headed to third world status with all the low class immigrants we've let in who breed like rats.
