Title: Kamikazes (and terrorists)
Post by: Dos Equis on May 09, 2009, 06:37:30 PM
Was talking to someone about how the Kamikazes used meth to not only keep them awake, but get them amped for suicide missions.  I wonder if drug use plays any role in getting terrorist suicide bombers to blow themselves and others up, or is it solely the ideology that drives them?  Never thought about it.

Yes, a couple of Arab Meth Heads from some cave pulled off the most sophisticated terrorist attack in history, and caused NORAD to stand down.

I didn't think about the opium production, but that's an interesting connection.

I saw a couple Afghans fucked up on hash and opium when I was there - it's pretty much all they grow

seeing as how the Taliban use drugs to fund themselves, it stands to reason they feed it to the "troops"

honestly, they had to be high a couple of the times they shot at us because we fucked them up some proper  ;D

From what I understand, the very origin of the word or label 'assassin' came from a group that used to get wasted on hashish. This group of trained killers became known as the hashassins'... over the years simply assassins

But hadn't the taliban eradicated the poppy trade in Afghanistan?
My understanding is the Taliban put an end to poppy farming and opium production when they were in power.
It wasn't until the US led invasion into Afghanistan, the topping of the taliban, and insertion of the US backed government in Afghanistan that poppy farming and opium production have increased.

No doubt drugs are a huge source of funds, but for who?
We know the British used opium to subdue and control the Chinese under colonialism
We know Ollie North used drug profits to fund terrorists  ...uh... I mean 'freedom fighters' in Nicaragua.
Now that opium production is on the rise, whose communities are being destroyed, and where are the profits going to?
