Who do you think had the best physique out of those three guys? I think Shawn Ray was the most CONSISTENT. He usually hovered around 200 pounds and ALWAYS brought quality mass with symmetry to the table. Levrone couldn't decide to to come in smaller and sharp or HUGE and soft. He was inconsistent, but when he nailed it, he nailed it. Wheeler to ME only really looked amazing in 1993. Other than that, not so much..
What do you guys think? BTW, Nasser, Dorian and Coleman are NOT included in this list.

Your point is?

When Kevrone was on, he beat all the rest, but Shawn was good all the time, consistent as you said.
But when Kev was on, he was Great.
If we measure physique in 1-10 (where 1 is very bad and 10 is very good).
If Shawn always was around 8, early Flex would be around 9 and at a later stage at 6-7, while, when Kev was on, he was at 10.
Palumbo hovering around 1-2.

overall i prefer levrone

Levrone, period.

shawn was consistent because he only competed at the olympia, he is not on the level of flex and definitely not Mr. Levrone

Levrone, but that doesn't change the fact that bodybuilding is not a sport and bodybuilders are not athletes, Earl!

Levrone was the best of those three.
Flex was loaded with synthol in his delts and calves.

Flex rapes Levrone in the arse BB-wise. Levrone is one of the most overrated BB of all time, a boring standard physique, decent delts and triceps and that's about it.
Flex on the other hand looked like a fucking cartoon character, tiny waist and joints combined with the biggest roundest fullest muscle bellies that ever existed, shredded to the bone.

ken had synthol in the shoulders and calves dude....without that he would not have had the cartoon look

Flex never made the best of his potential. He truly looked fantastic during his rookie year and that's it. But that's enough to place him above Levrone and Ray. Both of these two were consistent but Shawn was a bit better in that departement. Levrone at his best ('92 and '95 0 and during the Grand Prix' 97) was probably a bit better than Shawn at his best though.

1. Shawn Ray.
Always complete and in shape.
2. Levrone at his best, was the best, but you get the feeling he never did bring his best, it was either this, or that... I think he had more in him, this is a guy that placed 2nd in his O debut, blowing everyone away.
3. Flex never repeated 93's form as mentioned. Lots of hype, no delivery.

Yep but that Flex '93 showing was unbelievable. He was close to a pretty much undefeatable Yates that year. And I feel the same about Levrone. he had it all but he also didn't improve that much though he stayed consistent.

That's only PARTIALLY accurate. Flex displayed those ROUND muscle bellies as early as 1989 and all the way through and including 1993 and this was PRE-SYNTHOL Flex. He DID have that cartoon look before Synthol and in fact, I believe the Synthol gave him an UN-cartoon like physique.
-
ray has the old skool bodybuilding look, when bbing still was about hard training and nutrition.

Kevin didn't improve because he was trying to catch up with the MASSIVE Yates. Kevin was chasing SIZE for the sake of SIZE. He looked MUCH better at 235-240 of SHREDDED muscle than a ballooned 260 pounds of BULK. In his quest for size, he lost the quality physique he displayed in his earlier days. When he finally began to shed some of the weight by 1998, he no longer looked the same as he did in 1992.

not in 93 bro. granted 98 and 99. but his 93 destroys all. and im a levrone fan.

wheeler...wheeler... wheeler

I think if Wheeler was so superior...he would not have been tempted to use the oil in his shoulders and calves. If he was so superior to Kevin why didnt Flex just go up there as is? I feel that because Kevin's shoulders were so huge that Flex was desperate to catch up.
I thought Kevin had the overall edge with not only shoulder width, but also leg size, back thickness/width and tricep mass.
I dont want to make it sound like Flex was the only guy doing synthol. But he took it a bit too far.
Just my opinion

Flex didn't have the structure (nor the training discipline) to play the size game. But those days were dominated by Yates and almost everyone, except Shawn (and that's why he was the most consistent of the lot), played the size game. Kevin could do it better than Flex but it damaged his physique also to a lesser extent.

IMO, when he turned pro, looking like this, he was freaky! The leg conditioning!

Along with Labrada, one of the most intellegent competitors ever (knowing his body, and doing the best with it).
Along with Labrada, the definition of a pro bber.
