The 70's and 80's were dominated by pros with underdeveloped legs and HUGE chests and TRAPS. Today we have pros with HUGE legs and NO chests/traps. It seems like today's pros don't care about chest development. What's changed?
-
they bench too heavy and let the tricep/front delts do all the pressing.

There are exceptions, but it doesn't seem to be a prerequisite anymore like it once was. Almost EVERYONE had a large chest back in the day. This trend of small pecs started with Flex and Levrone. It continued today with most pros... The last great chest of recent years was probably Haney.
-
i think its just that
1. their shoulders/arms are bigger nowdays so the chest doesnt stand out as much
and
2. nowdays no one does a real side chest anymore, they only do 'front-chest' or 'side arm'

exactly. its the fact arms and delts ar bigger, and that the do not pose to stress the pecs as much.

Sounds like some people need to learn how to elevate their sternum whilst benching.

What's the point of a chest when women like arms? ;D

This is true

chests today are bigger then teh use to be. Its the comparitive effect of the rest of the body being bigger as well. Ronnie had a massive chest, ruhl,dj, branch, victor has a very thick chest.
Has nothing to do with stretch, as i have no idea why that would change the origin and insertion of the pecs or number of fibers. Training style has nothing to do with shape of the muscle, its genetically determined. My biceps are high, nothing i do will make them look like olivia's

they avoid heavy training in basic exercise.

Because the era of people like Kevin Levrone is over :(
Upper body looks damn good. That being said he had Schwarzenegger legs that year.

nobody does pull- overs anymore.

pull overs are better utilized for lats
-
Some don't deadlift heavy, flat bench or shrug. J Jackson is a powerlifter so you can see the results if you do these lifts.
