Gonna be interesting to see how they do this flick...never was a fan of the comics..always thought Thor was kinda "boring" and corny...I will give it the benefit of the doubt though...

It's not like there are a bunch of juiced out actors walking around who can act and who look like superheros. When you're making a movie, you can't just cast guys like Gunter who can't act for shit.

Guys, c'mon, give the kid a chance. You gotta remember, it's the energy of the character they're looking for. The rest can be added and is up to the hair, makeup, and wardrobe depts. I agree, he might need to lift a weight or two in preparation for the role, ...but I'd prefer to see a skinnier Thor whose good, than some huge body builder who can't act his way out of a paper bag. This kid can act. If you don't think so, ...just catch the new Star Trek release. Creating the physique, ...or the physicality of Thor is easy, ...channeling his essence isn't.
The biggest problem for this actor imo is being typecast and relegated only to Superhero comic book roles.
If that happens... he's sunk. All that talent will simply fall by the wayside. Hopefully, he'll be smart about it and book some other roles in the meantime, before each action movie hits, ...preferable dramas, or he'll be pidgeon holed.

Townsend Replaced in Marvel Comics Tale 'Thor'

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Stuart Townsend has departed Marvel Comics' movie adaptation of ''Thor'' because of creative differences, according to sources close to the production.
Townsend had been cast as Fandral, an ally of Norse god Thor. He was replaced by Joshua Dallas, according to the two sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the record.
The cast change came as production was about to begin. Shooting starts Monday on the movie directed by Kenneth Branagh.
Irish actor Townsend, 37, best known as the boyfriend of Academy Award winner Charlize Theron, starred in ''Queen of the Damned.'' He had been cast as Aragorn in ''The Lord of the Rings'' trilogy but was replaced at the last minute by Viggo Mortensen.
Dallas, an American actor who is a relative newcomer, appears in George Lucas' upcoming Tuskagee Airmen drama ''Red Tails.''
''Thor'' stars Chris Hemsworth in the title role, a warrior cast down to Earth to live among mortals as punishment for his reckless actions, which rekindled an ancient war in the realm of Asgard. Thor's troubles continue after dark forces of Asgard are dispatched to invade Earth.
The movie co-stars Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Renee Russo and Tom Hiddleston. Kenneth Branagh is directing.
''Thor'' had been scheduled for release May 20, 2011, but Marvel has just moved it up to May 6, 2011.

Ralf Moller would do good in this movie
