So I have found myself setting up permanent residence in the Miami area. Besides the need to learn Spanish now, the most important decision needed making is where I set up shop where to workout at. I'll be pretty close to the airport area due to my job. Besides the gym, what else is a must see to the area?

I always get arrested in Miami. You should probably just leave.

Went to the Gold's in gables. Nice setup. Isn't space age equipment and had everything I needed. Pretty odd to see guys wearing club clothes to the gym though.

Once you get settled in your new city, you'll find that driving down to the FL Keys is one of the 10 most beautiful drives in the country. Clear blue water... seven mile bridge... totally beautiful! As a newcomer, you will probably want to drive straight to Key West and enjoy everything that is down there... but over time you will discover the virtues of stopping at individual Keys and discovering what each island has to offer; it's a great reason to keep driving down there.
Btw, always rent a room at a local hotel for a night or two when you go to Key West; there is too much to see and do down there for a day trip. It's a great place to pal around with buds or to go for a romantic getaway with your special lady/guy friend.
Once you get used to going to Key West (and especially if you have visitors from out of town) you will want to take them to the Dry Tortugas. This involves driving to Key West and taking a boat ride (or sea plane) out to Fort Jefferson.

A few years ago one of the local papers ran an article on the 7 Wonders of Florida. I saved it; if you want a copy (.pdf file) send me a private message with your email and I'll forward it.
I'm not a big fan of Miami but Florida is a great place to live pros include: short trips to Europe, Latin America, very affordable housing, lots to do, indoor/outdoor lifestyle, bodybuilder friendly, beaches, boating, etc.
Cons: bad schools (from K-12 through college) limited career prospects, strong Latin American & Caribbean influence (some people see this as a negative but I don’t).
-
Other cons: sweltering humidity, high crime rate, transient population and old retired people who like to ram you with their shopping carts at the Publix.
;D
-
don't forget hurricanes, mosquitos, snakes, and alligators :)

hahahahahahaha
Actually, the times I've been to Florida I've been surprised. I thought Florida was all Cubans and retired DamnYankees...but actually, most of Florida seemed to be like the people that hung out at Porky's (not those Angel Beach assholes).

ROFL, I used to live through that every summer as a kid.

Depends where you go. There is a lot of white trash inland and in northern Florida.....but, there is also a ton of money all over the state. I love Miami. I'm going to Delano in September :D

I do not see any of that shit Earl. The west coast of Florida is the best but try to stay out of Central Florida and the east coast of Florida. The Lizards take care of all the bugs and you never ever have to worry about a fuckin fly buzzing around your head while trying to sleep. Luv Bugs are the worst thing about Florida and they will eat the paint off your car but if you cover it up, problem solved.
