Here are a bunch more photos that I am deleting from my hard drive in an attempt to make more room so my computer will speed up, ..... but I thought I'd pass them along to you all first as some of you Get Biggers have enjoyed these old time photos in the past.
All of them are bodybuilding related. Some more than others, but I'll leave that up to each of you to determine just how they fit into a bit of bodybuilding history.
In fact if any of your GB'ers want to make an attempt at submitting whatever factual knowledge you may have on what you will be seeing, I'll be glad to send a prize to the one or two or three individuals who provides the most and best factual information on the photos.
(I can send lots of "prizes" because I'm also trying to make some room by getting rid of a few DVD movies ..... such as the original Bloody Valentine and the original April Fools, both of which I don't believe ever made it to the movie theaters. Maybe I'll even award my second copy of Killer Klowns From Outer Space but that's one video I'd hate to part with.))
All I ask it that you don't make any adverse remarks about any specific person in the photos be it truthful or otherwise. No snide remarks or wishful thinking about the subjects in the photos will be appreciated. I just want to provide a bit of non-sensible info about how it was in the good old days from my own personal viewpoint.
Some you may have seen before but what the hell ........
first photo ....... This one should be easy .....
Name the two "stars" in this photo.
The name of the movie.
The year it was released.
-
This one will be a bit harder to answer for most of you......
Where is this?
What is located across the street to the east?
What event takes place here each year?
Who promotes that event?
-
Tough one for the majority of you GetBiggers ......
Who is this?
What did he do for a living?
What contests did he win?
What did he enjoy doing that most friends complained about?
-
Even the richest of us GetBiggers have to spend a few hours working each evening!
Name this well-known Get Bigger and the hourly wage that the circus pays him and others in similar positions in the Big Top.
-
And some GetBiggers have to spend their days in the hot sun selling balloons.
Who is this one and what is his hourly wage at DL?
-
1) steve reeves, debbie reynolds, Athena, 1954
2) culver city civic auditorium, sony (formerly MGM) studios where Gone With the Wind was filmed, most all of Jon Lindsey's NPC and IFBB contests
-
No fair, Tim! You know this stuff too darn good!
Nahhhh, go for it. You'd love Killer Klowns from .......
-
I wasn't cheating with the above couple of pictures ...... Name a bodybuilder who actually worked at Disneyland and another who actually worked as a clown in a major three ringed circus when he was much younger.
-
What does this piece of equipment do?
Name it.
Have you personally used it?
Have you made any "gains" by using it?
-
Definitely one of the better (but not real huge) bodybuilders I've seen and met over the past 40+ years.
Name him and the most significant contest he won.
And why it took him so long get national recognition.
What is he doing today?
-
Name both of these guys and what they are doing today. I can bring you up to date on one of them...... but I've already seen Killer Klowns from Outer Space

This is a special extra-heavy-duty scale designed to accomodate the enormous weight of one Keith "Onlyme" Jones!
-
Last seen competing in the USA National Championships a few years back. Hell of a lot of potential back then. Is he still competing?
-
Name each person in this photo.
You'll probably guess two correctly but have difficult with the third.
-
Both these guys were recently in the news.
Name them and what they were in the "news" for.
-
I can't throw this photo in the shit-can without sending a copy to Ron first so name both, their birthdates, their social security numbers and banking details.
-
What and where is this and have you been there and who did you see there?
And all that kind of important stuff.
-
Wolf or dog? And who does it belong to?

Some place in Venice where they serve shitty food. ::)
I think I might have seen McJeff do a line of blow off some chick's ass there. Then again, I might have just been stoned.
-
Name and location of this facility?
-
Goat, two wrong answers so far. Keep trying though. I'll include some easy ones later.

I'm certain I have the second one right.
Not sure about the Keith Jones scale one, though.

Phil Hernon is the guy in the foreground & Mike Matarazzo in the background - Not to sure what Phil is doing now days but Mike had open heart surgery in 2004 as a result of clogged arteries possibly due to eating 5-7 pounds of red meat per day. He had a second heart attack in 2007 and was last seen working as a bail bondsman for AJ's Bail Bonds in Modesto, California

Other pics of this dude?

LMAO at having to delete the pics, just downsize them. For example, a 7mb size pic(if you even have one that is) can be brought down to 150-200kb with a decent size and quality.
If all your pics are as small as currently posted (40kb, 112kb etc) you must have THOUSANDS and thousands of pics for this to even be a issue. Even if it is, why not buy a external hard drive?
-

Eric Shannon is still around... :-\

Thanks, Monkey. I'm taking your advice and then loading them to a DVD. I had over 7,000 hi-def photos of various subjects on this hard drive and kept getting some "Start up disk is full" message. My dumb ass had no idea what that meant, so I just started deleting "files" and discovered that I had over 4,000 additional photos in my trash can which I thought were actually removed from my hard drive upon placing them in the trash.
So I learned how to delete my trash - and all appears well once again.
I'm dumber than the average GetBigger when it comes to this computer suff (I've been told that by some irate but average Getbiggers); but I do understand Quantum Mechanics better than most so called QM experts in the present scientific arena.
So I am not a complete dumb-ass. Not yet anyway. Thanks for your advice though.
-
Excellent ript-ness. I think this is actually a photo of a fellow GetBigger submitted a long while ago.
SimplyHuge .... is this the condition you are striving for?
-
Another example of excellent ript-ness.
Any of you guys/gals presently dieting and training to achieve this condition?
-
Another small gutted,, ripped bodybuilder in great condition. This is the type of bodybuilder who should be considered for the Hollywood movie super-hero roles.
-
One of the best among the best in the world.
And a great photo too!
Shopped or not ????
-
Excellence within the competitive world.
Update??
-
This photo was shot about two years ago.
What was it?
-
I can't reply to each of the above just yet but Phil has been a friend of mine for a good long while and I'll be calling him back east sometime later this week. He owns and runs a training center and has a little daughter so he has been very busy.
Send me some questions to ask him and I'll be glad to ask providing he has the time to answer as many as possible.
-
Name all three and the event and year.
-
Name each and why it was shot.
-
Name both and the occasion.
-
damn, some pretty hard q! 8)
-
Meso ... only hard (difficult) because you are too young to remember. But you are pretty knowledgeable about BB, so use this stuff to expand that knowledge.
Someday you may show up on Jeopardy and pick the ancient (but extinct) bodybuilding category
Name one individual in the photo below.
And then name the most polite individual in that photo. Probably the most polite person in the whole darn sport.
-
On a scale of 1 through 10 with "10" being the BEST, how would you rate this set of abdominals with no other bodyparts being considered?
Any GetBigger with a better or comparable set of abs?
-
Name each and why it was shot.
I see Steve Reeves and Debbie Reynolds. Who has not, at one time, had a crush on that woman?
-
Name each and why it was shot.

If you can answer these questions... you're gay! :D

the tall dude is Noah Steere.
-
Thanks, Doc. I met Debbie a couple of times and just missed her most recent Las Vegas performance at the South Point here in Vegas. Also "almost" got in a car wreck with Eddie Fisher while he sped by us on Sunset Blvd back in them good old days. (Remember - You heard it here first!)
Dr, the other guy is Dick Dubois (I think) and that shot was taken in 1954 during the promotional 'tour' for Athena to the best of my recollection.
Quaker, you are correct on Noah Steer ... one of the politest athletes I've ever met in any sporting endeavor and that includes hard core MMA athletes whom I also consider to be at the top of the politeness heap.
Great abs on the kid in the above photo. Or would you rather look like this?
-
Also "almost" got in a car wreck with Eddie Fisher while he sped by us on Sunset Blvd back in them good old days. (Remember - You heard it here first!)
Ouch. Maybe he was in a rush to speed away from his marriage to Miss Reynolds and hit up his next conquest and bride, Elizabeth Taylor!? You could have saved her marriage, stunt!!! ;D
-
Damn, Doc! I wrote that exact same thing (speeding off to see Liz) but erased it because is appeared too much like Hedda Hopper or that other Hollywood nosey broad. Maybe even too much like Earl Wilson maybe.
(Got a good story about me and Earl Wilson and Jack Dempsey to tell you one of these days!)
And speaking about MMA dudes (see above), let me throw a few in here..... I am very serious when I say that they are among the politest athletes I've ever had the opportunity to meet..
If the fighter pictured below had reason to hit me in the nose, he'd probably apologize immeditely and send a box of chocolates ...... or a dozen roses for my casket.
Name him ..... I was in the back so I didn't see that fight but it looks like he got the shit kicked out of him a bit. He always smiles a bit if and when he looses.
-
Another MMA fighter.
Actually I'm not a fan of MMA fights but if I am within the vicinity of any fighter, I always walk over and offer a handshake.....
That's how I met Jack Dempsey and Joe Lewis among many many others.
Does anyone remember a Marine back in the 60's who used to sneak off base in Okinawa to learn martial arts in the local Dojos? Eventually he became very famous. His last name must have been "Lewis" too because it sparked my memory banks. Any help here?
More MMA fighter pictures below.. Can you name them?
-
Forrest.
Forgot the name on the middle guy.
Brad Imes is one tall mofo.
Why deleting your pics?
Pics will not slow down your PC, keep the pics m8.
-
Thanks, Brandon! Based on earlier and thoughtful advice, I am gonna keep them but I will be transferring them to separate disks for storage. In the process of deleting or saving them outside of my hard drive, I have discovered that my computer works much better for some reason. Others agree with you that a lot of photos should not slow down my Mac but I had something like 8,000 to 10,000 photos on this machine. Maybe that is more than "a lot"??
As you can probably tell, I carry my camera with me at all times and take pictures of anything I think will either change or be of importance for prosperity.
Did you see the picture of Arnold and Dave and Andy sitting in the tree?
Yep, you are right on Forrest...... Introduce yourself if you ever see him. You will be impressed. "Humble" best describes him.
Yea, I am 5 foot 12 inches and hurt my neck talking to Brad.
Thanks for your input.
OK, Two more fighters, then back to bodybuilding.....
Sorry ladies, I got tons of old time fitness/bodybuilding pics but they are on a disc in storage. If there is enough interest, I'll do my best to find them on my next trip north. Those photos include the likes of Cory and Rachael and Bev before they were famous. Mostly casual stuff.
Can anyone name these two fighters? .....
-
Good to see that the Haterz are posting elsewhere. Thanks , guys and gals (and that includes you Haterz too!)
It's appreciated!
I have the utmost respect for anyone who trains hard for any endeavor (sports or otherwise), so I sort of resent any part of the human population who thinks differently than I do and expresses that difference with a great degree of hostility.
And that statement is about as 'hostile' as I can get against anyone who thinks differently than I myself do.
So , thanks for calming down a bit here.
Here's a meal I lost to a USA competitor recently. He asked for my honest opinion before the event and I told him he wouldn't place in the top five within his wt class. So we made a bet and I lost and he wanted a good cut of Prime Rib. This is his second serving.
BTW, I am damn happy I lost that bet as I was responsible for his pre-contest prep and don't consider myself to be any sort of an expert in that regards.
It may not be the best in town but it is considered to be the largest ...... Jerry's Nuggat in North LV.
PS About a third of that cut had already been consumed when this photo was taken.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charles Clairmont from England...
-
Thanks, Ant! He is damn impressive in that photo! When was that taken and what is he doing today? Still competing? He's one of the few pros who I've never seen in person or shaken hands with.
Thanks!
-

Who is now doing some kind of coaching at a gym in St Albans in the UK

Deleting photos won't speed up your computer! Buy an external hard drive to store all your photos. You probably need a new computer. Too many applications and not enough RAM memory (NOT hard drive memory!) are the culprits for slow computers. Plus, you could have problems with antivirus and firewall applications.
btw, thanks for posting those photos.
-

First one is Jeremy Horn.

RIght, Debussey, Good old "GUMBY". I was surprised how tall he was. 6'1". You follow this MMA stuff?
-
Neat piece of equipment for ab work! I've seen a few of these in some of the Gold's Gyms and they are usually always occupied. Have not had a chance to try it myself but it appears to be an effective piece of equipment.
Anyone use it? Produce results?
-
Who produces this piece of equipment? The complete line received a lot of interest at a recent Fitness Expo in So Cal.
-
RIght, Debussey, Good old "GUMBY". I was surprised how tall he was. 6'1". You follow this MMA stuff?
Too bad about his latest performances. He has lost 4 out of his 5 last matches, and is 0-3-0 in his last UFC run :-\ (although beating guys like Marquardt is no easy task)
(Yes, Debussey follows MMA a bit)
Who is that last guy? It could almost be a young Nate Diaz? (not sure here though)
-
Thanks for the info you posted. I did everything that was recommended by Getbiggers and it is working better than ever now. Plus I went a strp further and deleted thousands of old photos .... actually I downloaded them to a few disks and then deleted them.
Debussey, I don't follow MMA as much as Debussy does, but I will go out of my way a bit to shake the hand of any athlete participating in any sport that I know the slightest bit about. Never have been impressed with golf so when I found myself in an elevator with Tiger Woods, I simply nodded and wished him well for his next tournament.
Those MMA shots were taken at The Palms in LV after a major fight and I shook the hand of every fighter that was available.
I was somewhat amazed that each and every one of them took the time to look me in the eye and answer any questions I threw at them. And each and every one of them was polite to perfection. And as you can see each was willing hit a pose for the camera without asking for a twenty dollar bill.
I hate to see someone getting the shit kicked out of him when he's down so that is the major reason I don't attend every fight I possibly can.
BTW, if that is actually you in your avatar, you do know me.
And I don't know if that is Diaz or not, but I can find out if you want to know.
-
Keep the pics coming! This is quite entertaining.

Here is a total loser
This guy Eric Shanon is a loser and a nubaine freak. He burned alot of people in Vegas, for GH to support his bad habits. His wife, is a good looking girl who usually works as a stripper to support his bodybuilding lifestyle, so he can live the dream.
True story, my employee, and I were in the gym training arms. Now my employee is only 180lbs, just a toned guy, he doesnt use any anabolics because he is mormon. He is a great worker, he runs my production facility in Utah.
Anyways a well known NATIONAL Level bodybuilder walks by named Chris Bennet, who had absolutley huge arms.My employee says to me, I want to take what ever he is taking.
My employee was talkiong to me.Eric Shannon buts in and says to my employee, if you got to say something bad about my friend you need to take it up with me first.
I then say, listen clown he wasnt talking to you, he was talking to me and he was giving Chris a compliment.I then said if you have a problem with my friend, then you have to take up with me.
We can settle this right here, right now.Eric Shannon didnt say a word , he put his head down, and left the gym. What a coward.Eric Shannon at the time was 240-250lbs, and he was picking a fight with a guy who is 180lbs, that was even talking to him.But when I butted in a man who is about the same size maybe larger, he didnt have anything to say.
Eric Shannon is a loser. He ripped 2-3 people I know off by taking there money and promising them kits, and kept there money=loser.Lives off a stripper wife so he can be a bodybuilder=loser
Pics fight with smaller guys =loser.Hooked on nubaine =loser

Strange hair. Looks like he should have a fish hook hanging out of the side of his mouth.

In an effort to make this BB related, you'll be driving over this new bridge (presently under construction) when you drive from Arizona to Las Vegas for the NPC USA BB Championships. It's an amazing feat of engineering, folks!
-
Big change! .... Before and after.
Is he still competing?

Don Peters, I think he was a film editor and a gym owner. He won some over 40 shows in the 80's as well as Mr International and Mr. Western America. I have no clue as to what his habit was that pissed his friends off. I trained at his gym for a few years before he sold it to Golds.
-
Haz, I've been taking pictures of the "bridge" for the past couple of years and until recently I had no idea how to remove that date stamp as shown on that photo and it never was set at the right date anyway, so it's difficult to answer your question about the current state of the bridge.
But are you aware that it "blew down" once and they had to clean up the mess and start over? I don't have those details but it was interesting at the time that it occured.
I was just there a few weeks ago and to the best of my knowledge the previous photo is just about how it looks at present. In fact I think I took that photo then, but I'll see if I can find another one to send to you for comparison.
It is worth the 40 to 45 mile from the Strip to see it in person. It's gonna be an amazing bridge and a major attraction once it is completed and then they will no long allow vehicular traffic over the top of the dam.
Yea, Ron, I think you are correct about Don working as a film editor for one of the major studios. Back in the 60's Don used to throw parties for his friends at his home and more likely than not, he'd set up the projector and make everyone take a seat and watch his contest movies .... no videos back then. I have a friend like that who makes everyone watch his old surfing movies ..... him in Malibu, in Hawaii, in new Zealand, and even him surfing in Vietnam while bombs were falling "just over on the other side of that hill there!".
Haz, after seeing the attached photo; I sort of recall that this shot was actually taken last month so this is just about how it presently looks; so I have to assume that that wind damage did delay it quite a bit.
-
Ronrico, how did you know what Don Peters did for a living?
-
What ever did happen to Jim Haislop? Any details?
-
You avid GetBiggers should be able to ID two of the guys in this photo .......
-
This is Mike Dayton. What did he do that was so radical?
-
Exactly where is this located?
-
even him surfing in Vietnam while bombs were falling "just over on the other side of that hill there!".
Charlie don't surf, stunt! ;D
-

it blew down? somebody musta lost jobs over that!! i flew to Phoenix and bought this combonation and drove it back to Canada. these pics were taken when we got to Vegas just after crossing through the bottom under the construction. good times.
-
i heard he was well hung!!
Yup. He did a lot of crazy stuff. I think I have that 'hanged' pic somewhere on my computer. Wearing harem pants or something, too. Pretty nutzo stuff.

That's the one. I can't find it. Must have re-titled it. How's the weather out West? We had the most perfect baseball weather today. I could die happy. It was perfect. :)

still snowed a bit yesterday dammit. i was in BC this weekend and it really snowed thru the mountains. i can't stand it much longer.
-
Yep, he hung himself without breaking his neck.
Just finished talking with someone who knew Mike way back when and he seems to recall that Mike was planning to jump over the side of the Golden Gate Bridge with a noose around his neck but the city of San Francisco nixed that.
He was into Karate and thinks that he may still be living in the Napa, California area. Not absolutely certain about that though. It's been a while since he's seen him.
-
Old time BB still making the rounds at Venice Beach. Name him. Someone on here might be able to post a picture taken of him when he was at his best.
-
Sorry, but I had to post this. I think you'd appreciate the humor in it more if you ever had the opportunity to find yourself in an actual combat situation other than on the internet or while submitting some of these GetBig postings.
The pink skivvies say, "I LUV NEW YORK" on them.
-
Venice Beach regular- Bill Pettis. I think he has been somewhat displaced since World Gym closed up. I knew Don Peters because I trained at his gym, and would talk to him.
-
This pic is Dennis, Chris Cormier, and on the right Valademere, he is a local compeitor in Las Vegas,.He won the Mr Las Vegas, and didnt do well in the USA.Dennis wouldnt have done well in the Mr USA, but Jim Mannion gave him a pro card.Dennis at best would place 10-12th in the USA, on a good day.
-
This is Mike Dayton. What did he do that was so radical?
He was able to tear an encyclopedia in half with his hands and break handcuffs apart.
-
