Probably a before and after of the same guy.
Before: happy and in love, prior to going off to war.
After: Not so happy, disfigured from war, and his bride isn't exactly living the life she'd thought she would after his accident.

His intentions were noble, for that he deserves respect.

The fact that he was brainwashed into throwing away his life for the men in suits is the part that stings.

Nobody forced him to join the MARINES, it takes brave, unselfish people to fight for everyones freedoms. Even the freedom of fa66ots who sit behind a computer talking sh1t about how he looks after being trapped in a burning hummer after an IED attack.

P.S. Yes this is a meltdown of epic proportions

yes, exactly.

people choose to go into the military, knowing full well that they will potentially die because of their choice of employment. they take that risk, and are rewarded very well for it. the us military earn very nice wages, on top of that their food and living is covered,,, so its even better than what it looks like. plus their medical coverage, college tuition, etc etc. all paid for.

men and women who otherwise wouldn't be able to get a minimum wage job, get excellent wages and benefits and get access to our countries best technologies, free travel, get to shoot people, etc.

its sad to see anybody die for any reason...  but a soldier dying is no worse than a construction worker dying, a fireman dying, a police oficer...anybody really.

Your ignorant! People with college degrees join the Marines all the time, thier officiers. I'm pretty sure if they didn't join the Marine Corps, they would be able to get jobs that pay better than minimum wage

yes, some do that. whats the % of people who go into the military that already have a degree?

i havent looked into it but i would guess that a vast majority do not do this.

either way, they are people who apply for the job knowing the risks; and in turn the gov. pays them very well and gives them great benefits.

as far as compensation goes its a great job. the flipside is potential death. and that is information everybody knows when they apply for the job.

I don't disagree T'Lore. However, a cynic would say she just married him for the money (the interviews and wedding photospreads) and then almost immediately divorced him.

she went a lot further than most girls would have.  She should get a B- for her effort.  I look for the guy to kill himself within a few years.  As time passes he will not be remembered as a hero but as some freak show.  It is sad but that is what it will come down to unfortunately.

I think if you read the whole article it's not such a downer.  The guy is on quite a few pills to keep him sane, and if you've ever dated someone that went on those kinds of pills then you know what it's like to date someone that doesn't care about things.

I imagine this was probably the downfall - the change in his personality because of the meds - not the fact that he is disfigured.

The government routinely takes our best and bravest, 'cooks up a story, and drops them into a meat grinder.'  What's the last war (although Caesar doesn't seem to have to bother with the congressional vote anymore as stipulated in the constitution) you can name that justifiably cost American lives?  Iraq 2?  Iraq 1?  Somalia?  Vietnam?  Korea?  The government hasn't made the right call with the lives of our servicemen since WW2.

Honoring our troops means holding the government responsible when it carelessly wastes lives.  Blind allegiance to a government which sends servicemen to their death based on lies and sheer bullshit is a betrayal of the ideals that our veterans have fought and died for since Lexington 1775.

I'm grateful to our troops, but there are more than a few politicians who should be tried for treason.
