whenever flex magazine puts out one of those lists, of best bodyparts of all time, popularity usually triumphs over reality and truth...but i gotta say this one is pretty on point.  you can argue a placing here and there, but all in all its pretty complete.

Chris Cormier and Ian Harrison could be switched with Munzer and Albrecht, although the latter had just as good a pair of legs themselves.

So hard to tell with different looks at different contests. Ronnie '03 must be some of the biggest and had great deep cuts for some of the show, although I'm sure how long he held his peak at that how. I might have expected Nasser on the list yeah, although possible synthol calves don;t help his case, even though they're not quads I know.

Why no Jay? 5 years ago he would have made the list! Early Kevin was worthy of the list, although someone's gotta go for that to happen. Shawn Ray had amazing quads! He'd make my list fo sho.

Now the fiction and rationalizations set in-Coleman never had Platz's muscle quality, deep cuts, dryness, striations nor even the same size relative to structure.

Nice try.

Paco should also be ahead of Coleman.

Paco's quads are huge, but they are ugly.  I wouldn't have him on the list.  An early version of Jay Cutler (circa 2001) should be on the list.

I think it's the rest of his physique overall that's ugly, not the legs in particular plus it's subjective.

Ronnie's quads are larger and more separated than Platz's and are therefore superior, albeit not by much.  Notwithstanding calves, Ronnie had the best legs ever imo.

I'd say Kai or Wolf has the best quads of today's competitors.  Kai has crazy striations and Wolf has unreal sweep (but awful calves)

but if platz and ronnie both came in the same time, platz's quads would have been bigger!!.. so if you put the time difference in mind, platz is the winner..

Platz's legs are better. If you're talking specifically quadriceps - vastus muscles, rectus femoris - maybe Ronnie wins. It's questionable, Platz had better fullness and sweep. But when it comes to the adductor muscles, sartorius, hamstrings, calves it's Platz all day.

Come on, Matt C. You're smarter than that. Platz isn't even close to 53 in those pics. I remember when those came out years ago. Look at the suit for chrissakes! Platz is barely holding 180 lbs these days. Said so in his latest interview.

[ Q ] You've probably heard the speculation on the internet. Just how are you looking these days and are you still training hard in the gym?

Well obviously I'm not the 240 pound bodybuilder people saw throughout my career - I was between 225 and 240 depending on my schedule. I'm not that weight right now. I could easily get back to over 200 and I did it in '95.

Every ten years you think about making a comeback and that's where I am now, but I decided to put my energies elsewhere. So I'm about 180 pounds right now. Compared to the '80s (Tom's prime) I'm extremely light now.

I've got no problem with Platz winning the list, although if I could choose I'd probably have Demayo's legs, I think Kai is getting close to Branch, certainly he has more interesting cuts and stuff, and Branch presumably doesn't grow his as big as he could, there's a pretty high standard for legs these days, half the guys have crazy quads now, even 3rd tier guys like Fankhouser and little guys like Silvio have massive cut legs. I would even suggest that apart from all the different drugs around now, the emphasis on bigger legs is a definite contributing factor to all the bigger midsections these days, since you can't squat massive weights without your waist absorbing some of the poundage. Iron-age = smaller legs + smaller waists. I know Platz was iron age but common the guy's a FREAK!

Ronnie at the 2004 Olympia had the best quads of any bodybuilder ever, hands down. The problem that I have with Ronnie 2004 Olympia is that the quads were the only positive thing about his physique. Everything else was a mess.
