EU Sues Sweden, Demands ISP Data Retention (http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2009/05/eu-sues-sweden-demands-law-requiring-isps-to-retain-data.ars)
The EU passed the Data Retention Directive years ago, a law that demands ISPs and search engines hold onto data long enough to help the cops (but not long enough to cause privacy problems). But Sweden never passed it into national law, and the European Commission has now sued the country to make sure a bill appears.
Bravo to Sweden, FUCK THE EU!

Is Sweden a state of the EU?
Good for Sweden. They are a independent country.

It's a member nation.
There are many benefits of the EU superstate but I don't value them above my liberty so they can fuck off.
