Title: question about shots in the back
Post by: bobofet on May 30, 2009, 06:35:56 PM
Hello, I am new to this forum and have a question about the steroid shots I am getting in my bach to treat a herniated disc.  Does anyone know if the steroids they gave me have any benifits when lifting?  I have noticed some of the sides associated with normal gear(achne and such).  also could I benifit from test and/or hgh as far as directly or indirectly related to my injury?  i'm 35 and been working out a long time even using some otc's such as superdrol.  I have lost some muscle and gained some bf since my injury, and although i may never be able to workout as hard as i may have in the past i still want to get the most out of what i can do.  any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

no!

the shots in the back are completely opposite anabolic steroids..

the shot in your back was cortisone, which is catabolic (destroys muscle at the expense of energy (glucose)), completely different, and opposite of anabolic steroids (which build tissue, and lowers cortisol).

they cannot help.  remember, steroids are evil, and will make you become a serial killer.

elite_lifter,
GImmick?  I dont see anything gimmicky about asking a legitimate question.  isnt that what these forums are for.

"Clowns are comical performers, stereotypically characterized by their grotesque appearance: colored wigs, stylistic makeup, outlandish costumes, unusually large footwear, etc., who entertain spectators by acting in a hilarious fashion."

Maybe not.  :)

Yes they are. He meant/tought that you were some highschool tweep from another forum here, who's trying to make the guys that post here look stupid or what ever.

I've had to take CORTISONE in the past and it is absolutely POISON, i will not take it ever again! Unless my DR. tells me it's a matter of life and death. It will make you feel weak, sick, elevates resting heart rate, kills appetite etc. At least it did for me.

Take your time and let it heal after that go to HRT clinic and get yourself some testosterone enanthate + nandrolone decanoate + human growth hormone and seriously start reading about this stuff NOW!

Luolamies,
thank you for the reasonable answer.  it was exactly the kind of info i was looking for, from someone who has had this type of past experience, again thanks.

It was probably not cortisone. I got two last summer & it wasn't cortisone. I can't recall the actual steroid.

BTW - didn't help much at all.

OK but I'm sure it was still an anti-inflammatory steroid, similar to cortisone.  Cortisone is a fairly general term to describe them. Celestone, Kenalog are a couple names of cortisone drugs.

i am not exactly sure what the specific name of the injection, all i know is that this last one has not worked to well, and since getting them i have gained weight (even though eating good)and gotten acne too.  I just want to get off the painkillers and get back in shape.
I think (theory) that hgh and/or test can help in my recovery by strengthening my core and assist in the repair of the muscles surrounding the spine and discs.  i hope this is somewhat accurate, because i can't get surgery right now(last resort), and i have exhausted all other options.

Very true, either way it was a waste.

That sucks.  I had a relatively mild back injury when I was younger.  1 shot of some type of cortisone fixed it up nice in a few days, I was lucky i guess.

For three days after the shit it felt like I was stabbed in the spine. But after that I felt great for about a week or two. The problem was it was right at the time of my hand surgeries so either way I was fucked basically only using one side of my body for almost anything (i.e. lifting & such).
