Holy fucking shitballs - my personal best is 8 20kg plates which I though for a while I never crack - he probably warms up with twice the amount.
-
Agree - not a real deadlift. Anyone who thinks it is, knows nothing about the sport of powerlifting. Stuff like this and "new world record" claims just cheapen the sport.
-
Hes the seconds strongest deadlifter EVER though.
But yeah not a legit lift.
And now that he has a kid etc, maby he wont break the record? =(
-
Why the fuck do they use tires? Is it to look cool or macho? What's wrong with real iron plates? Fucking tool

Plates mean nothing to a nonlifter. 4 or 8 plates, can't see or understand the difference.

Look i am deadlifting and as I have said 8 plates were my personal best - but you have to give credit to his lift this is HEAVY, and there are other lifts from him where he deadlifts crazy weight and real plates.

Who said it isn't heavy? I was commenting on why they use the big tires instead of regular bar and plates.
I'd love to try that set-up myself though. A while ago I tried a heavy rack lockout without straps. Held 1K for a 3 count. :D

great way to fuck up your back.

Strong back = fewer injuries, less back pain. The ones with the worst back pain never deadlift IME. Deadlifts = best back rehab.

I agree here... only time I fucked my back was the months I pussied out of deadlifts!
lesson learned...
Hey van,
Do you know much about compressive loads on the vertebrae and disks?
I mean 1000lbs is a lot of weight on that structure...

I gotta admit that such loads probably aren't healthy. Don't know about the science. I did it mostly to see if my grip would hold. The bar bites back and the hands feel very raw after. :D

You've actually held 1 000 lbs in your hands?
That's impressive shit. 8)

Back extensions are great for the back. Soviet weightlifters used to do those.

yeah sure but that weight is alot more than your back actually can handle = risk of tearing something dramatically higher.

how bad ass does this looks!! :o

Hey Van, post a video of your feat. I would like to see it. Possible, but not likely.

Really, a 765 lbs pull? That is pretty good. What are you pulling now? I am sure it must be close if you are still training.
-
;D the getbig powerlifting team is out in full force.

You should know, I am you according to King23 :D
Hey Van, post a video of your feat. I would like to see it. Possible, but not likely.
We are very similar strength wise so you should be able to do it too. It was just the very top range. A well knurled bar and chalk. Had a suit on too for safety. I don't have a video but might do it again on friday, could send you a vid but don't want to post it on board for various reasons.

I think he meant 405 because 765 would be absolutely nuts, although below average for a getbigger. :P

Because there is no bar long enough to get up to 110 pds with conventional plates.

You can get that on a conventional bar. Stack it up with 25kg Eleiko metal plates.
See how much space there's left on the bar here. 1036lbs on the bar.

Where was that filmed? The Special Olympics?

Bill Kazmaier deadlifted 1085 pounds TWICE in a row without stopping back in 1982 at the World Strongest man competition and he was injured WHILE doing the lift.
