CARACAS, June 2 (Reuters) - Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez said on Tuesday that he and Cuban ally Fidel Castro risk being more conservative than U.S. President Barack Obama as Washington prepares to take control of General Motors Corp.
During one of Chavez's customary lectures on the "curse" of capitalism and the bonanzas of socialism, the Venezuelan leader made reference to GM's bankruptcy filing, which is expected to give the U.S. government a 60 percent stake in the 100-year-old former symbol of American might.
"Hey, Obama has just nationalized nothing more and nothing less than General Motors. Comrade Obama! Fidel, careful or we are going to end up to his right," Chavez joked on a live television broadcast.
During a decade in government, Chavez has nationalized most of Venezuela's key economic sectors, including multibillion dollar oil projects, often via joint ventures with the private sector that give the state a 60 percent controlling stake.
Obama has vowed to quickly sell off General Motors once the auto giant is back on its feet, but the government will initially control the company after a $30 billion injection of taxpayer funds.

Shouldn't your title read, Hugo Chavez joked... As soon as I read it I knew he had to be joking, and he was.

Just the fact that you or no one else can tell the difference anymore speaks volumes.
And no, I dont think it is a joke. Chavez, Obama, Bush, or any other dictator wannabe has surely read Machievelli's "The Prince".
If you want to understand moder politics, go read that book as to how a Prince aquires power. Obama is following it to the tee.

dude, it says he joked in the article you posted lol... I read The Prince a long ass time ago, not sure why you would think I haven't. And of course he's joking. He's of course talking about it as he feels it's a justification for his nationalization moves, but dude, he knows full well that it doesn't place Obama more leftwing than Castro or himself. Hugo jokes a lot if you listen to him much, he's always joking around.
and what do you mean that I can't tell the difference, like I said, I knew it had to be a joke when I read the title and indeed he was joking.

Is what we did with GM anything different than Chavez did with the cement plants?

Chavez has done A LOT more of it and lol, Castro? And it's not quite the same thing, for one thing, the reasons are completely different.

we'll talk about it when the reasons become the same and also when he nationalizes Big Oil.... BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHA.... Anyway, the only issue I had with your post was minor, and that's that he was joking.

My personal biggest fear of this Admn is this Cap & Trade scheme.
