Just got finished weighing in and taking my drug test along with getting the usual bag of sponsored supplements and T-Shirt. I have to say that they have their shit together in the NGA. The venue and hotel are great and everything has been put together properly
Saw a few buddies from other NPC shows. Just to let you folks know that the NGA Night of Champions is tommorrow in Greensboro at the Carolina Theatre so if you're near the area, come on down and check it out. Afterparty is at Nattie Greens so that's going to be good too.

My drug test was early so I only saw two other competitors. I'm in the Light Heavies so that class is most likely going to be packed.
As far as my prospects are concerned, I'm not sure because I've never done an NGA show before. I do know that I barely made weight so I will be the lightest in my class and I may be outmassed possibly.

in the 70's (Arnold et al) those guys would actually GAIN WEIGHT and get stronger right up until contest.
One reason is they did not gain 80 pounds of bloat in the 'off-season'

I didn't have to ask him because I already know that being 5'11 and competing in a middleweight division would be a disaster because people that are in that division are usually much shorter and more stockier.

I was at the gym yesterday, and i think there were probably around 7 different guys there at 11 AM that would beat you in tomorrow's bodybuilding contest. None of them have probably ever competed, and none of them are getting ready for shows.

Its also amazing that you went up to these 7 people, asked them if they were competing at a show, then put them on a scale and got their weight to be sure they were the right weight......
Oh yea, you also had the psychic ability to know what weight class I was going to be in yesterday when I announced it today......

I don't go to bars anymore since I quit drinking, but I was always happy with Muggs and Coopers on West Market. Muggs restricts gay nights to Wednesdays and Fridays after 9. Coopers is straight all the way (more of a sports bar really).

He's was one of the guy in those daydream commercial for "hemi's." He also does standup and is from Hickory. I did an internship for the mighty Crawdads baseball team when I was in college.

once the crawdads came in Ric Flair GOld;s up here (back n the day) and were have a pissing contest benching 315, think they're top guy got it a few times for reps....well BIG JOE, countriest thick 280lb juiced up fck I knew at the time, goes over there and asks if they are done, they say, "yea, do you need us to take some weight off?"
joe replies, "naw, I need to warm up"
he benched 315 for 8 then goes directly up to 495, reps it once then on way up he drops the weights and they fall off each side....he had torn not his chest from the shoulder, but his entire pec major torn about 1inch from his clavicle....fckn terrible shi.t

Did well in this contest before 2nd LH it was called East Coast at the time. A good organization for supposedly Natural BB's. The competion has dropped off lately not as many guys compete as in the past.

Well see it'd be less gay if they had muscle. That way you can see what hard work can accomplish and it can motivate you to train harder. But going to watch Vince is basically wanting to see an average 177 lb black man in a thong, so no thanks. Nobody in shape ever competes in greensboro, it's just a show for the otherwise losers to compete and win and feel good about getting a trophy.

It is sobering to realize how small many guys are after they get in shape for a contest. Melvin still looks a bit smooth in the photos.

According to the entry form you pay $55 to enter, $35 for a NGA card and $35 for the polygraph. That comes to $125. Heck, it would be cheaper to go out and buy your own trophy. In 5 to 10 years no one will remember who won so it doesn't matter. Goodrum came 2nd in his last show but still competes as a novice because he didn't win that division. Looks like he will be competing in the novice division for a few years to come.

If you are ineligible to compete in the novice class, via a placing in another organization, then you must place in the top 3 in the open division in a TIER 1 contest to advance to the State qualifier.
TIER 2 - State Qualifiers:
The top 3 placing in the open division will qualify for a TIER 4 or TIER 3 Show. To qualify for TIER 2, the athlete must place in the top 3 in a TIER 1 contest or 1st place in a Novice division in a TIER 1 or 2 contest. TIER 2 may also include other divisions such as Novice, Teens and Masters.

The overall winner in the men's and women's division will qualify to receive an NGA Pro card. (The CAN/AM will award the top American and/or Canadian in the men's and women's open division). However, Pro cards will only be awarded in the Open division.
