Title: Piano Lessons
Post by: Andy Griffin on June 06, 2009, 08:02:34 AM
Like a lot of kids, I was forced to take piano lessons for a year.  I just found one of the songbooks.  Ah, the memories.  I realize that the words are just there to reinforce the melody, but good grief how corny.  A few examples:

Bone sweet bone!
Bone sweet bone!
That's my favorite song.
Bone sweet bone!
Bone sweet bone!
Play it loud and strong.

If you want your cakes to soar,
Use a better batter.
If you want the crowd to roar,
Be a better batter.

Steady Eddie, take it slow.
Steady Eddie, go, go, go!

I'll never forget this gem:

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Merry, merry king of the bush is he
Laugh, Kookaburra! Laugh, Kookaburra!
Gay your life must be

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Eating all the gum drops he can see
Stop, Kookaburra! Stop, Kookaburra!
Leave some there for me

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Counting all the monkeys he can see
Stop, Kookaburra! Stop, Kookaburra!
That's not a monkey that's me

Kookaburra sits on a rusty nail
Gets a boo-boo in his tail
Cry, Kookaburra! Cry, kookaburra!
Oh how life can be

I remember this one as well.  Then had to live through it yet again because they sing it on Barney.

The "well Tempered Clavier" is a very good exercise book I am told by keyboardists, with none of the corn...
