Title: Kid addicted to Muscle Milk, baby mama pissed
Post by: Tre on June 08, 2009, 07:13:49 PM

Long story, but I don't mind my kid taking *some* protein supplements. She's recently discovered Muscle Milk, which is high in fat and sugar, like any other snack food. Well, her mama is upset and doesn't want her taking 'all that protein', but at 60 lbs, is 8g of protein really all that much?

Kiddo - a future GetBigger - is a beast, but is only drinking 1/4 of an RTD at a time. I don't see anything wrong with that. Am I being a dick by ignoring mom on this? Or am I right, as usual?

I share my whey shakes with my son a few times a day.  He loves it, doc says it's very healthy for him.

I'll *occasionally* let him have a bite of a protein bar.  No candy at all.  Fruit about 10 times a day.

I think muscle milk would be fine.  Especially if being underweight is an issue.

My advice, consult the doc or a nutritionist or a getbigger who knows nutrition inside and out.  Chances are you're fine.

when I was shopping in gnc many years ago an employee there shared a story with me about how his son was born  severely underweight and premature... he supplemented his diet with protein shakes as a child and he ended up putting on weight to reach a state of normalcy.  not sure how much the protein shakes played a role, but I thought it was a pretty interesting story.

if anything it could be helping forge good nutritional habits for your kids that will last a lifetime... many kids don't realize how important nutrition is to their development and growth.

Naaa... most kids eat chicken nuggets by the truckload and that's about 20g of protein in let's say 6-8 pieces.

If anything flip your kid over to Muscle Milk-Lite. Remember, it sure beats Pepsi or Coke which majority kids live on from when they awake to when they sleep.

I think a protein bar is WAY better than a snickers or mars (the chocolate bar, not the getbigger. On a second thought i would give neither to my kids).

A whey shake is also way healthier than a milkshake at McDonald's, but i would not give the kid Plazmosis.

That's not Marv Marinovich.

That's not Marv Marinovich.

lol.. brilliant!

Todd Marinovich became a high school football legend, dominating all records in Orange County and coming to national attention when Sports Illustrated published an article, titled "Bred To Be A Superstar", that discussed his unique upbringing under his father who wanted to turn his son into the "perfect quarterback". The article declared Marinovich "America's first test-tube athlete", and mentioned his mother took him to museums, played him classical music and jazz while banning cartoons as too violent and instead viewing films by Alfred Hitchcock and Agatha Christie. Marv Marinovich had assembled a team of advisers to tutor him on every facet of the game.[2][3] In a noted passage, the article described that:

He has never eaten a Big Mac or an Oreo or a Ding Dong. When he went to birthday parties as a kid, he would take his own cake and ice cream to avoid sugar and refined white flour. He would eat homemade catsup, prepared with honey. He did consume beef but not the kind injected with hormones. He ate only unprocessed dairy products. He teethed on frozen kidney. When Todd was one month old, Marv was already working on his son's physical conditioning. He stretched his hamstrings. Pushups were next. Marv invented a game in which Todd would try to lift a medicine ball onto a kitchen counter. Marv also put him on a balance beam. Both activities grew easier when Todd learned to walk. There was a football in Todd's crib from day one. "Not a real NFL ball," says Marv. "That would be sick; it was a stuffed ball."[2]

Because of his strict upbringing and almost mechanical lifestyle under his father, some nicknamed him the "Robo QB."[3] Todd Marinovich went on to have a solid career at USC, but began to show signs of emotional rebellion against his strict upbringing under his father; by the time he entered the NFL as a first round draft pick, he soon became a major bust due to personal issues. As a result, an ESPN columnist named the elder Marinovich one of history's "worst sports fathers."[1]

Marinovich is a sports researcher at Sports Lab. In May, 2009, Marv began training UFC LIghtweight Champion BJ Penn for his August 8th title defense against Kenny Florian, at UFC 101.[1]

The diet is healthy and good for the young fella...I just hope your son doesn't duplicate Todd in the morals department.  :)

My advice, consult the doc gh15 or a nutritionist or a getbigger who knows nutrition hormones inside and out.  Chances are you're fine.
