Ok Californians, Arnold just met with the treasurer and the controller yesterday.
He needs to act to close the $24 billion deficit by June 15th to avoid running out of cash

Sooooo after going thru the website.... The whole point is that no matter what you do, you can't balance the budget. Of course, the real money savers aren't offered as choices. Getting rid of free services to illegals? Cutting state worker salaries? Increasing performance demands? None of that is offered as an option.
If they can propose to shut down all community colleges, why can't they cut ANY services??

ps: I managed to get a surplus. Of course you pretty much have to chop everything and add a whack of new taxes

No it's not... They have something to cut stuff for legal immigrants. The state just refuses to even admit they exist...
It would blow your mind to know how much waste there is in the CA system. In my county, the government offices are closed (furloughed) a day a month to 'save on costs', yet the people still get paid. The govt doesn't save any money... it's all a show to inconvenience the citizens so they are more apt to approve the next tax hike that comes along.
No one in the govt will cut anything, no matter how asinine the expenditure might be.

Well if they cut all aid and even education to illegals then that will cut 8+ billion dollars. That's at least 1/3 of the deficit in CA. If I am not mistaken public school kids get issued 2 sets of books so they don't have to carry books to and from school; cut that.

All it has is turning them over to the federal system to save 180 million in prison costs.
I am talking about eliminating ALL spending on them. All WIC and handouts and the like.

I hope they do it. They don't want to because they don't want to lose potential voters but these illegal jokers shouldn't be allowed due process let alone the right to vote.

I don't think it's so much the votes they're looking to avoid losing. illegals can't vote.
I think it's all hell breaking loose they want to avoid. You have no idea how big a role illegals play in sustaining the California economy. If you think it's bad now, ...get rid of all your illegals, ...and you'll be crying to bring them back.

Right, but we'd be trading a lot of uproar for a short period of time for getting out of a very high crime rate for perpetuity.
