When they wake up on the sidewalk with their GF holding them crying and her drunk friends are calling police only to be owned by the police when they tell them there is nothing they can do but take their BF to jail for assault because he was the aggressor. ;D

So hes outside starting the same thing as this guy when he starts trying to beat the shit out of me and the other doorman, so we get him on the ground after a few seconds and i just got him held there when some little twink starts yelling "WHOS SECURITY AND WHOS NOT??" and tries getting me off. like you dumb fuck it says staff in BIG LETTERs so suck dick somewhere else. ended up putting him on the ground too. so irritating

Technically him walking up fast and getting in his face is considered to be an aggressive move. I warn them "Sir, please do not approach me in an aggressive manner as I feel I must defend myself" nice and loud so everyone hears it...then, if he dares to try his luck again...I'll throat check his ass (only awesome when the gag reflex doesn't make them puke) and put him into the side walk (and in his own puke if possible). I have no problems embarassing you in front of your girl :-\

Ever think that some of us do it for fun? I work a lot,I'm single by choice and don't drink much so bouncing allows me to go out on the weekend, listen to music, check out chicks and meet really cool people while only occationally deal with an asshole...all for $100 cash tax free for 4hrs of standing around bullshitting.
Easy extra $800 a month...I wouldn't call that stupid.

Same as any other walk of life, some doormen are dicks and some are decent guys. I reckon I've worked with about 70 different doormen over the years, and some of them were the nicest guys you could meet. Others were just bullies who couldn't wait for the next fight to come along.

I have worked with maybe 25 doormen over teh past 4 years.
The first team i was ever in was by far the best. 4 of us looking after mainly 300 youngsters. EVERYONE always backed each other up and looked out for each other AT ALL TIMES.
I had some real great times with those 3 guys and the craic after a night was brilliant. Sadly when a new doorman took the club over things went to shit. Never really fully enjoyed or felt confident working with a few doormen and when the ones i did feel confident with left i soon followed.

We only used to have 2-4 doorman which we got from companies, but sometimes you'd get ones who'd only just got their badge, or looked like they should be doing supermarket work. They usually went straight away unless they were really good.

I was asked from aged 18 to do the door. I felt I wasnt old enough of confident enough, almost but not quite. I was asked at a time i felt right to do door. I made a lot of friends and a few enemies. But luckily i never got hurt at all, odd scratcgh and ripped shirt etc but overall i done good.
I think i picked it up quick and learnt something new about it every time i was on the door. Never got cocky or complacent. Didnt try to look tough or mean, just smiled said hello and if something kicked off dealt with it as quickly and safely as possible.
Some guys i worked with used to disappear from front doors, then id look and it was 4 or 5 fellas who had to be knocked back...those guys just didnt wanna be the guys who knocked ppl back.

We had a night once in Manchester, the door lads had turned some young lad away cos he had no id. He came back with his 'gang' and said they were gonna shoot up the door. All the fucking doormen left, leaving me and one of the lads off the bar to stand on the door for the rest of the night! And it was my night off.

Seriously though, there are big Samoan and polysian guys who do make OK bouncers. If they have the right temprement, they can stand there, looking docile, politely greating people, and then if needed grab someone and remove them from the premises quite easily. For the right type of bar of club this type of bouncer does come in handy.
For me personally, I would not generally go to the type of club or bar that requires the services of these kind of guys. I prefer places that are somewhat more sophisticated...

was a blast! saw some fucked up shit but as a whole most people are just out to have a good time and problems are easily diffused. The less people think they'll get their asses kicked in a joint for getting loud and rowdy the more they'll return. Security gets respect when they're respectful to patrons.
but sometimes people just bring in shit from other bars and you gotta do what you gotta do..
usually it's throw them out and let them fight in teh street... or cuff'em and let ftwpd pick'em up by the curb.

He was involved in a fight and got the best of the guy(I am guessing the other guy was a tiny weak tit) and the kid sued him, he lost his job as Fireman and is now running a 300sq ft start-up supplement store. I am guessing he will be out of business by the end of the summer.

Exactly why I work for places that set up security as "contractors"...end of the night you get paid cash plus tips from bartenders and walk. No one at my club even knows my real name for this exact reason. We all have nicknames.
