BREAKING NEWS:

They've officially named H1N1 a global pandemic.

30,000 infections in 74 countries without any clearcut path of spread.

The world has now entered the offficial 2009 global influenza pandemic.

Oh no another crisis ::) on the average 36,000 die from the regular old flu in the US alone each year, no idea of world wide numbers.

At least this virulence is no worse than the typical seasonal flu.  Wonder if we will see it resurge in the late fall though, that is what experts are fearing.

The last pandemic — the Hong Kong flu of 1968 — killed about 1 million people. Ordinary flu kills about 250,000 to 500,000 people each year.
