I do.
The exercise i make the most noise doing is deadlifts, i shout as i do the movement, it adds like 2-3 reps no shit, i dunno if it's the release of tension or somthing but it's good.
If you don't make any sound then either:
1. you are not training hard enough.
2. you are holding the tension inside which is not positive.
Funniest thing was when i trained in my house and i had somone coming to see if i was alright because of the sounds i made lmfao.

Yesterday when I did bicep, I yelled "Come on guy" just before each set, Got awkward looks, but it was well worth it.
-
i really hate those attention whores.
-
I make kind of a yelping sound at the most intese part of the lift when you hit maximum explosiveness (I am a weightlifter). Also sometime when grinding out a final rep or 2 squatting.
-
With each repetition I moan as if I am having the most incredible orgasm of my life.
-
sometime I also yell "GOTTA DIG DEEEP!" and being that I work out in a swedish gym, thats also makes for some strange looks

It's called a release of Tension idiot. btw i never say actual words i just don't hold back the noise i feel like making lol.
Mat C could add extra reps to his deadlift if he didn't hold the tension inside and not make any noise like he does in his videos.
this would be maybe abit extreme and attension whoring though:

a problem method and number?

Same idea used in karate, etc. because it works. Ya i agree if you're really working it's almost impossible to keep entirely quiet, and there is no reason to keep quiet.
Of course you've got the usual pretenders who aren't really training hard and make noise for attention. A lot easier.
-
leg press used to have me yelping from time to time, same with hack squats........
-
in my gym i have a few world record holding power lifters. they are the quietest guys there.
-
I grunt and shout when doing just about everything

No. But when I do legs, like this morning, I kind of hiss as I exhale as I'm pushing out the reps. I'm demur about it, tho. :-*

Egads no....I have an assistant yell for me. 8)

Deadlifts and sometimes leg press when I'm going heavy
I'll grunt a little on heavy bench work, but almost never on inclines with dumbbells.
I also don't grunt hardly at all on squats. I think I'm holding my breath too much - blacked out momentarily a couple of weeks and almost lost the bar. Scary.

If I do it's only loud enought that I am the only one who can hear it. Unless you are Jay Cutler's size there is no need to do those loud grunts, other than to make yourself look like a jack ass.
-
loud grunting or screaming during lifting is just a sad cry for attention revealing epic low self esteem and desire for validation from strangers because that was lacking in a father/child relationship
-
Studies have shown NO correlation between grunting and screaming and intensity level or strength. My belief is its done to draw attention to themselves, especially from other men.
There's a skinny twink who got into this habit at my gym several months ago. He just looks ridiculous screaming like he's getting fucked in the ass when he's using half the weight of anyone else. Bonus, he's there every night. >:(
