Title: Does this sort of person piss you off at the gym? (lifting "boots"/chalk)
Post by: Method101 on June 15, 2009, 09:11:39 AM
I remember when i trained at a public gym, these 2 young kids used to come in and they had all the gear, you could have thought they were going compete in a professional powerlifting contest.

They proceeded to chalk up the bars, put on black "weightlifting boots" which looked like nazi memerobilia from ww2, then suits, just so they could do 1rm with 405. Not to mention having ATP belts which were thick enough to go from their waist to their pecs.

lost count of how many trousers iv got with white marks down the front from having to use chalked up bars after they finished with them.

Chalk should be readily available in all gyms in large buckets on the floor.

i couldn't really give a shit about what anyone else in the gym wears, how they dress, how they lift, etc. UNLESS it interferes with my workout.

X3

Chalk is needed on heavy DLs and DB rows and helps with BB rows.

Just take mirrors out of gyms and most the problems would be solved.

I think a lot of bodybuilding is actually seeing yourself training in the gym... in which other environment is that the case?

People like to see their pump, form, how they look etc etc

Fix your eyes on one point during the squat. This will keep you from leaning forward and help get deeper squats.

If you're uneven during incline press, go back to flat bench and get stronger, do shoulder rehab https://www.amazon.com/dp/0944831257?tag=getbigcom-20&camp=0&creative=0&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=0944831257&adid=17XG1CEJ3FJE237ZN9YT&

i know that ...except the tendency is to not go as low on the latter reps....it keeps me in check...esp when pushing oneself

What kind of fag is worried about getting his clothes all dirty from a little bit of chalk? Seriously, any real weightlifting or powerlifting gym has guys who lift with chalk (you need it to help grip the bar due to moisture on the hands for lifts where you can't use straps).

The thing that bugs me a bit about chalk though is the guys who get all fired up and then clap their hands before a big lift, producing a huge chalk cloud. I actually sometimes get athsma from enhaling chalk dust particles, so that can affect my training.
