I saw the videos of the fans destroying stuff and setting some car on fire in LA near the Staples Center after the Laker win for the NBA title. wtf?
I just don't get why anyone would do that?

They were mostly black, but this kind of rioting after a win goes on with every race in different sports.
I remember seeing some white college kids near Boston trashing their campus after the Red Sox won the world series .
Soccer matches have some off the chain, crazy behavior as well.
The one pro team sport I love is hockey. I have season tickets for the ATL Thrashers, 4th row, only a few ft from the ice. The Penguins had a victory parade in Pittsburg a couple days ago and it was packed, 20 deep on both sides of the street. It was fun and orderly and the only thing they threw was comfetti.
The issue for me is about WHY anyone would trash their OWN place after a win.
At least in the ancient times it made sense when they would take over and burn the village, take the money and rape the woman. They may have been barbarians, but they had enough sense to wreck the other guys place.

Hey, give some people an excuse to drink alcohol, and party, and destroy and steal they will - who cares about other people. However, unfortunately, out of a crowd of thousands, about 50 of these people ruin it for all.
The Los Angeles Lakers Parade will be Wednesday at 11am, going from Staples Center to the Coliseum.
At least the city won't have to pay a lot of the overtime costs regarding this parade...

Geesh ::) I went out of way to point out that this kind of "riot after a win" behavior is done by all kinds of people in different sports worldwide. My post was only a few sentences , so read the whole thing before you tell me I made a racist post.
I just can't fathom why any group would want to celebrate via trashing their own property.
As an NHL hockey ATL Thrashers fan , it never dawned on me to smash my car windows to celebrate when they win.

I was downtown at shooters after the Cavs won a playoff game...I think last year. Not even a block up the road, it was insane with people doing crazy shit. I haven't seen anything like that in that large of #s. There were several hundred people. In this instance, it was basically young blacks...but I think more is determined by a group mentality and education backround. We definitely heard multiple gunshots, tons of people were jumping on top of cars, driving cars down the streets with doors open and blaring rap music(not sure what was up with that but we saw a lot of it), screaming, breaking bottles and ripping down signs. It was complete anarchy. It was near section 8 housing (which for some reason is right next to the west bank of the flats).
For anyone that knows about Cleveland and the flats, you know it was amazing 10yrs ago but it was ruined, gang violence, too many fights, couple deaths, etc. Guess they are eventually going to put resturants and condos there but the east bank of the flats is flattened.

Its a breakdown in family and culture man, that is the #1 problem. Teachers can only do so much when they get no support from families, parents and communities. We can't throw more $ at the problem. Dysfunctional cultural issues and broken families must be addressed.

Thats the hard part bro. I certainly don't have all the answers, just opinions.
I do know that its essential for kids to have family and role models that show them the way, teach them, love and support them, show them good work ethic, how to be proud of themselves and have respect for others. This is all too often not happening in poor and some predominantly minority communities. And there is an epidemic of young unwed mothers and fathers who skip out. Thats certainly bad on a large scale.
Its important to have good people/friends in the community that watch out for each other. For adults to help set appropriate neighborhood behaviors in the community and ban together against the destructive elements.
The problem is how to break the cycle of dysfunction. Not easy. These traits and skills aren't determined by economic status alone. Many people came here poor but had strong family, love & support and strong work ethic and elevated their economic status within a generation or two.

The infamous soccer "hooligans" are 99% white and is a world wide problem in big soccer matches.
I was wanting to start some dialogue on why any fans would do this kind of thing.
I see no reason to turn this into a thread on race.

Every successful society today needs a low-middle-high level...However the problem is that the people at the top or(high level) want you middle class people to focus your anger on the low(poor)...Because by doing this, you will always stay in the middle class...Semi riots in these types of situations happen because they are allowed to happen period...There are already clips around the net of police/CIA etc admitting to starting some of these types of things...Every single Anarchist group worth a shit in America is run by the CIA...

Geesh ::) I went out of way to point out that this kind of "riot after a win" behavior is done by all kinds of people in different sports worldwide. My post was only a few sentences , so read the whole thing before you tell me I made a racist post.
I just can't fathom why any group would want to celebrate via trashing their own property.
As an NHL hockey ATL Thrashers fan , it never dawned on me to smash my car windows to celebrate when they win.
