Title: PETA wishes Obama hadn't swatted that fly
Post by: 240 is Back on June 17, 2009, 11:02:43 PM
 ;D
 Source: Associated Press

The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants the flyswatter in chief to try taking a more humane attitude the next time he's bedeviled by a fly in the White House.

PETA is sending President Barack Obama a Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allows users to trap a house fly and then release it outside.

"We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals," PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich said Wednesday. "We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals."

{LOL} I knew it was only a matter of time before someone made an issue of that.
At least he was good enough to clean up the fly guts off the floor as he exited.  ;D

I've never had any respect for peta(I won't even capitalize the name), but this is a new low.  Even for them.

This is the problem for all groups like this. There probably is a need for a group to protect animals from abuse. However, how can you take ANYTHING they say seriously when they get upset at a fly?

Its the same with Al Sharptons group. There is REAL racism in this country. The plight of schools in black communities is a disgrace.Yet,Sharpton thinks its important to protest Imus. You just saw it last week with Letterman and Palin.Groups coming out and are outraged over a joke by a comedian. If you dont like the joke, dont watch anymore, but do we need protests, calls to the station, threats of boycotts?

Everyone is looking and waiting to be offended.I dont get offended at anything.I didnt care about Imus,I dont care about Letterman, and frankly didnt care if either appologised, the thing thats offensive is the double standard of the reactions to both.PETA needs to focus on REAL abuse of animals, not bugs that live in shit and spread disease.NO ONE will take them seriously if thats their focus.

Obama was giving an example of the exact same way he is going to handle the Palin 2012 campaign.

Good post Billy.

The republicans won't put Palin against Obama in 2012....well, they shouldn't anyway.  They need a charismatic leader who is more inclusive than some of the past candidates.

Of course they won't.  We won't even see Palin make it out of the starting gates of the primaries.

How typical of the right wing nutjob posse. They will twist whatever subject is at hand to ultimately be about their agenda.

We're talking about peta and a calculated Presidential swat, not sharpton, Imus, palin or Letterman. sheesh.
Can you at least try to stay on topic Mr. I never get offended (but I will go psycho and threaten posters with violence if my paranoia suspects they're insulting me)?
