Title: Reality check time?
Post by: Howard on June 18, 2009, 09:36:06 AM
For the first time in years I took a good look at my physique and was ashamed.
Ok, I have not been in contest shape since '95, but it never really bugged me until recently.
Maybe being pissed off at seeing how chunky and fat I now look will kick me in the ass, and I will take action. Maybe some of you can relate? What drives you to bdybuild?
I fully expect to get flamed now, which is fine, whatever...I am off to the gym to start at least.
Toodles ;)

Fear of mediocrity, which is amusing since I'm Mr. Average from top to bottom.  The Gods have their fun with us.

+1 on Tape's comment...

Plus it's nice when you go somewhere or better yet a High School reunion or business function and you can honestly say you are one of the better looking dudes there. And that you wear the same or smaller pant size than when you were in HS / College. My 10yr reunion was just 3 yrs ago and I was SHOCKED how the majority has aged! Balding, Dicky-Do's (which would be my nightmare) ect..they looked like they were in their 40's or 50's

More importantly for me is BB (though im no muscle monster) allows me to really have fun with my children and keep up by keeping my energy level high. A healthy lifestyle gives me hope I will be around to watch them live life and give me grandbabies..of which I will spoil absolutely rotten ;). It allows me to live my active lifestyle..ie - play sports, kayaking ect...

Bonus is that with 4 daughters (2 biologically, 1 Goddaughter, 1 step daughter) I will need to be big enough and in shape enough to make some poor bastard that dares to knock on my door to date my daughter shit his pants. ;D

You have a lot more to be ashamed of than just your physique.

Go for it, you will be back in shape before you know it and then the results will motivate you even more.  Maybe to get in competitive shape again?  A little HRT might also be a good idea.

I agree except i like the twins. I've been on baseball-reference for 3 hours. epic lack of friends and social life.
