I don't know. The feeling may not be based on recent history.

From what I have heard, the comments were made because Khamenei is upset with the BBC's coverage of the events surrounding the election. They feel foreign media outlets have been cheer leading the protests.

They're crying because the rest of the world doesn't follow the Muslim approach to the suppression of freedom of speech. Not surprising, they've got a lot of shit to cover up.
Like Kerry said, this isn't about the West. They should stop crying about media coverage and worry about the millions of people protesting.

BBC enlisting new satellites to broadcast in Iran
LONDON (AP) - The BBC is using two extra satellites to broadcast its Farsi-language service after days of jamming it blamed on Iran.
The British state-run news organization said the move was meant to help it reach its Iranian audience as the crisis over their country's disputed election deepens. It is also a challenge to Iran's religious government, which has accused foreign broadcasters of stirring unrest, singling out the BBC in particular.
"This is an important time for Iran," BBC World Service Director Peter Horrocks said in a statement. "We hope that by adding more ways to access BBC Persian television, Farsi-speaking audiences can get the high quality news, analysis and debate they clearly desire."

Well, probably. Britain needed to keep the oil contracts/sign oil contracts with Iran so they contacted the U.S. to provide support in the form of our CIA. But who gives a shit, Iran is cruisin' for a bruisin'.
