I'll answer for my training partner, yes. I've noticed kids who get obese from a young age build impressive calves, not all the time though.

it would be funny if this year at the olympia they strayed even farther from the newly imposed aesthetic judging criteria and picked a random pale fat guy with cankles......well at least i would find it funny ;) ;)

Some do. I know of a woman who was a "big gal", she lost the weight, but her calves look like she did tons of stair calf raises as torture, it looked like she worked out, and that was all she worked out.

bruce mr u  randall had 23 in calves when he weighed 415 before training down to 239 or so and winning the nabba mr u.
