How can you even compare the two? In the "west" you can voice your opinion, speak freely and benefit from capitalism and hard work. You can realize your dreams if you work hard enough, and we live much more free than anywhere in the middle east or in a place like North Korea. Some of you guys really have no idea how good we have it.
Reminds me of the rich kids I went to college with protesting about nothing and bitching about everything under the sun. Facts is, 90% of them were spoiled retards who don't have a clue what it's like to have to fend for themselves. Turns out most hard core libs I know grew up wealthy. They only realize the perrils of socialism and "bleeding hearts" when they start making good money and uncle Sam wants them to pay for all the lazy shitbags who live in this country.

The soul purpose of many American's life is to aquire as much money as possible and spend it on lavish expensive goods. The government wants this because this is the only way capitalism can survive.
In the middle east they have freedom, I am not sure what you are talking about...Many drugs that are illegal in america as well are freely available, steroids, opium etc etc, they live a very nice life contrary to what you believe and are told.

How so? Your current president stated emphatically that we are not at war (and never have been) with Islam when he was abroad. He spoke to a massive French audience and admitted that America was arrogant and dismissive at times. We can look to the BBC and aljazeera freely for our information if we want to.
Now look at what the leaders of Iran and North Korea say to their people about the US....look at how Iran is locking down news channels and the web as best they can.
The only "brainswashed" people in the west are those to lazy to get informed.....

Thanks. I live in one of the most liberal states in the USA - MA. I went to college at a school that has a huge Asian and middle eastern population - (BU). I would say America is the least propaganda fueled country in the world. We have access to so many forms of information. It's all in front of you, Places like Iran shut things down when they don't like whats being covered. That would never happen here. Could you imagine if Obama tried to cut off news channels that he felt were trying to spread truth about an uprising or a dispute that occurred on his watch?
People, it's called the web, the BBC, Ajazeera and the websites of major foreign news channels. Get informed or end up like half the knuckleheads posting a bunch of nonsense in this thread ;)
