Republican California Governor sent a bronzed metal sculpture of a pair of bull testicles to the California Senate President as a message to man up when it comes to budget cuts. The Senate President sent the gift back, unamused. Maybe he was waiting for Schwarzenegger's actual body parts instead of a reproduction of a bull's.
The gag gift from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, a metal sculpture of bull testicles, came with a note suggesting the lawmaker would need them to make some tough budget choices, said legislative sources who were not authorized to speak publicly.
Schwarzenegger says he'll veto...An annoyed Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento) returned the sculpture with a sober note on the fortitude needed to protect society's vulnerable from the budget ax. That prompted a verbal apology from the governor, the sources said.
Still, "we're not going to be upset" about a practical joke, said Steinberg's spokeswoman, Alicia Trost. In fact, she said, the Senate leader and Schwarzenegger "send each other gag gifts all the time."
Steinberg had earlier sent the governor a basket of garden-variety mushrooms, Trost said, after Schwarzenegger called Senate budget proposals "hallucinatory."
One lawmaker said the governor's gift was inappropriate and unhelpful at a time when he and legislators are clashing over keeping the state solvent.
"It's juvenile," the lawmaker said. "The timing is bad."

As long as Arnold paid for them with his own money, who cares? I think it's funny.

How could you tell they're from a bull?

This governor thing was supposed to be nothing more than a stepping stone and is forcing Schwarzie to actually work hard for the first time. What's wrong with re-gifting them for Obama towards his next job as environmental czar.

Not a fan of Arnie as Gov but it's funny and a pretty ballsy move. Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.

Actually i don't blame them at all; it's innappropriate in the current desperate situation in California and this is not Franco or Ferrigno he's dealing with, they're serious intelligent people who didn't fall for it. Which is why he apologied.

Serious, maybe but the intelligent part is highly debatable. Cali is in a shitstorm, and much of it is from their own bad decisions.

They're in decades long gridlock that even intelligent people can't free them from easily. Schwarzenegger only wanted to be governor if it was easy i think, thus he comes up with this solution in lieu of real effort, which is what they're disappointed with.

Cali has tried to be everything to everybody for too long. always pushing aside tough decisions and trying to make everybody happy instead of making intelligent, prudent decisions. I agree that Arnold thought he would walk in and save the day, but once in he saw what a complete mess it is. No relief in sight. Sad for such a onetime great state.
