fast metabolism is the key to a lean physique.
you need a deficit in any case, slow or fast metabolism
-
my BMR is 3000
-
very fast
-
Mine is fast also ..true meso
-
mine is 6 out of 10
-
mine is so fast i lose weight during the night if i dont eat a huge meal before bed.
-
Pretty fast normally. Add 60lbs of muscle, even quicker.
I probably burn as many calories at rest as most 350lb fat people...or more.
Nothing like eating whatever and still staying @8%...I mean 10%...so on getbig, I'd be 15%.
-
just before bet last night I ate 2 noodles packets. aka 1000kcal.
And I weighed less in the morning the the morning before.
I have no idea why.

I'm pretty happy with mine. All I have to do to get shredded is take milk out of the meals. Otherwise I stay lean.

your body burns the energy as you sleep for muscle repair/ general activities = the food is no longer in your gut in the morning

I don't think metabolism varies as widely as people thinks it does.
-
Very slow, maybe BMR of 2000cal.
-
Just saying "mines fast" does not answer the question.
Whats your BMRs? (Basal Metabolic Rate)
Edit: Deicide, the average BMR of a man is 2500-2700, every 10lbs of extra muscle your carrying ads like 200 to that.

I am old. I am pretty sure it is around 2000, maybe slighty better.

it's atleast 2500
-
it's atleast 2500
That's an overestimate. I always round down in this case or in other cases up; always worse than we think, can't go wrong that way.

How is this number (200 / 10lbs) determined?
AFAIK, 1lb of fat has a BMR of 2 while 1lb of muscle has a BMR of 6. This would mean if you change your body composition for 10lbs more muscle while staying at the same weight, additional BMR would be 40.
-
My cutting phase right now my caloric intake is about 2400 calories a day without any cardio. I would say my bmr would be about 2800 calories a day.
-
how can we really be sure of the speed of our metabolism
-
I don't think metabolism varies as widely as people thinks it does.
It doesn't.
Metabolism is one of those mis-used and misunderstood terms.
Metabolism is the sum of all the biochemical reactions in your body, and they all proceed at the same rate unless you have a fever.
A few of the things that may slightly alter metabolism is the thyroid gland, adding or losing muscle or starvation/semi-starvation.
-

yup at about 48-49 it got up and left. if i wanted to compete i would
even have to cardio. gasp! the tragedy. the dispair. the alltimers!
-
i dont have a clue, neither do i care much.

Generally the more you weigh the more activity that has to take place in your body = more energy being used.
Muscle tissue uses more energy than fat so that's why it's a generalization, plus your rate of physical and mental activiy.
The body loses heat all the time so you're losing weight constantly unless you're currently eating/drinking.
metabolism = heat energy lost/total energy (body weight)
ex 1 ) 150lbs man may burn 20 joules per hour
20/150 = 0.13 joules of heat lost per pound every hour.
250lb man may burn 30 joules per hour.
30/250 = 0.12 joules
so 150lbs man is a bit leaner and/or active than the bigger guy, because his rate is higher.
ex 2 ) 150lbs man burns 20 joules per hour
20/150 = 0.13 joules of heat lost per pound every hour.
250lb man may burn 40 joules per hour.
20/250 = 0.16 joules
so 250lbs man is leaner and/or active than the smaller guy. (the 250lbs guy is eating on average 3840 calories (1 joule = 4 calories so 4 x 40 joules x 24hrs) a day. (the 150lbs guy is eating 1920)
