Title: Bananas for protein shake...
Post by: Eyeball Chambers on July 11, 2009, 07:32:21 AM
I was trying to think of some way to maybe dice bananas into really tiny pieces, and than freeze them in a big bag so I could just add them to my protein shakes as needed.

Anyone got an suggestions?

I do
Grab a banana dice it into really tiny pieces and then freeze them in a big bag so you can add them to your protein shakes as you need them ,
                                                                     Hope this help.

Ok cool, but how do I keep them from freezing together into big clumps that take forever to thaw in my shake?  I was thinking maybe I could spread them out on a big tray, freeze them and then scrape them into a bag?

It's a banana.  Peel.  Consume.  There is no need to freeze it.

Do not overthink the protein shake.

or get some nylon wrap or aluminum foils, then cut them up, and pile them into layers, banana slices - foil, banana slices - foil....saves a lot of precious fridge space.

why not just grab a banana and throw it into the blender when you make the shake?

I am assuming they are sitting right on the fucking counter when you make it...no?

Is there really a need for frozen, pre-sliced banana ?

As do I, but I cannot mix them with anything, with the exception of steak.

I hate 'banana flavored' anything, whether store-bought or homemade.

I do this all the time.  It's better frozen.  For one thing, bananas don't stay that long out in the open, so freezing them is a good idea unless you eat them all the time.  I only throw half of one in per shake, so not freezing them would waste half of a banana all the time.

When frozen, they are mushy, and the blender will have no problem blending them.  Also, they make the shake colder when frozen, which is always a good thing in my book. I keep frozen and bananas and just toss them in there.

My friend gave me a banana with dinner last night and I didn't think anything of it.  Just ate it as I was eating my steak and I have to say, it was a damn good combo.

Must be a jungle thang. lol

No need to cut them up in small pieces.  Cut the banana into thirds or half.  and stick them all in a freezer bag.  This way it is easier to just break them apart.  The frozen bananas are better in a shake than regualar bananas.  It makes the consistancy better.  You can use less ice too.  I bought them by the 25 lb box already frozen for my store to make protein shakes.  They really make a shake taste better.

RPF - it really isn't that difficult. Simply go and purchase a quart of banana flavoured icecream. There you have it - all the goodness and wholesome nutrition of bananas with the ice cold delectable creaminess of icecream added in.
