Title: Best Signs seen at shows?
Post by: leaky_frog on July 13, 2009, 03:27:52 PM
OK, per Leon, we should have a best signs thread.  My favorite ever was, "Scott Hall fears Betty Ford."

Don’t know why, but I always got a kick out of the signs that showed The Rock’s face with an “animated” eyebrow that moved up and down. ::)

Yeah it was at the Survivor Series when it came to the Boston Gardens in the early 90's. I was pissed because there was no elimination matches. Brett Hart was champ at the time and the sign was HUGE!! 6 pieces of giant poster board. I was laughing my ass off and thought, Probert would be the WWF champ if he was in wrestling. :)

And I'll say the toughest ever!! Take Probie in his prime and put him against anyone in their Prime and Probert is the favorite no matter what.

My top 10 all time (based on the prime of their careers).

1. Bob Probert
2. Dave Brown
3. Joey Kocur
4. Nick Fotiu
5. Clark Gillies
6. Ben Wilson
7. Marty McSorley
8. Tony Twist (steroids was the only reason way this guy is ranked)
9. Stu Grimson
10. Dave Shultz
7.

Ouch!

I haven't watched lately.
Is Orton beginning to draw X-Pac heat?

He's got "RKO" chants at  summerslam. Usually he gets a mini pop when he comes out, but pretty good heat once his match or promo starts.

He was getting a few cheers as him and Cena were exchanging blows.

Saw a guy in the crowd with a paper bag over his head and a sign reading

"Embarrassed Carlito fan"

Poor Carlito.  He goes from beating John Cena to chasing Hornswoggle through a black hole painted on a concrete wall.

Yeah, I feel bad for Carlito, but I feel worse for the fans who paid money to watch that.

Perhaps one of the most meaningful signs was displayed the week after Tony Schiavone gave away the finish to the taped RAW running opposite Nitro.

During the broadcast, he said something like, “Fans, I’ve just been told that Mick Foley, who once wrestled here in WCW as Cactus Jack, is winning the world title right now. That’ll put a lot of asses in the seats.”

At the next few WWF shows, there were signs reading “Mick Foley Put My Ass In This Seat!”

Tony Shiavone was the worst commentator ever.

nothing beats when Jesse ranted all over him (the famous gun rant) at SummerSlam 89

Tony was lucky to ever have a wrestling commentary job.
He was a perfect fit for WCW.

They let Heenan go, but kept Shiavone.

gotta love tenay

but I think Vinny Mac was a much worse commentator than shiavone

I like Mike Tenay. He does his "homework," is very educated, and contributes to the matches & product.

But, Tony Schiavone wasn’t a good wrestling color guy.
Allegedly, he was considered to replace Jim Ross on RAW around 2002/2003.
Thank God Kevin Dunn shot that idea up the ass!

Mean Gene summed it up perfectly when he said, "Tony was the consummate politician," and "Tony watched out for Tony, and in doing so, had a tendency to bury people along the way".

Lots of negative industry stories about Tony.

VKM did a great job. With Perfect, Jess, Macho. Bobby. He was awesome.
Vince & Jesse Ventura were a great combo. Jesse always put Vince in his place  :)
