"Ben Loehrer is not a teen, but he won the overall NPC Teen Nationals.
Gary Udit clearly lists the shows rules on his website:
http://www.garyudit.com/npc_eligibility.html
Teens
Teen Bodybuilding, Teen Figure, Teen Bikini and Teen Fitness competitors must be 19 years of age and under as of the date of the contest and must submit proof of age with entry.
On the day of contest, Ben Loehrer was 20 years old. According to his facebook page he admits that his date of birth is July 8th, 1989!"

He just turned 20 a few days before the contest. No big deal. It's not like he is 21 or 22! :P

It is, Rules states you cant be 20.
he was.
Nothing more then that.
My friend also turnes 20 two days before his comp, and would have won the HW and placed really good if he was allowed in the teens ::)

-
Like rooms at the Mirage?
haha ;D in the next 20 years this little boy will traverse the heights of schmoedom, eventually getting spit back out of the bottom of the internet fetish subculture.....if he is lucky, a couple of muslims on getbig will still line up to buy his monthly load of "soiled" posing trunks.
....goin places :-X :-X

He has been declared ineligable due to his age
Overall has been awarded to runner-up Uriah McGee
All LHW competitors will move up one placing

that should not have been allowed to happen
Chick, you know any glory that is to be had to begin with happens on competition day

I bet he's pissed at getbig for spilling the beans.

The fault lies squarely on the shoulders of the competitor...He knows his birthday.

Agreed

They usually check IDs ,for teenagers and masters.

He stated he emailed Gary Udit and he gave him the OK, a 30 day grace period.

i wonder how this one turns out. If the email exchange is indeed true, I predict this thread goes bye-bye.
-
Just give the kid his plastic trophy already! ::)
-
The fault here lies square on my shoulders as the promoter of the event.
This was not a special circumstance for one competitor.
My goal has always been to open doors for competitors to realize their goals and I never thought it was out of line to grant a 30-day grace period when someone requested it.
I have always granted a 30-day grace period for competitors in either of the two following situations:
1. Teen competitors who turn 20 shortly before the event.
2. Men Over 40/50/60/70 competitors who turn 40/50/60/70 shortly after the event.
However, it is obvious that this cannot continue and I will not grant grace-period exemptions in future events. I support whatever decision the NPC hands down relative to the placings in the 2009 NPC TEEN NATIONAL BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS.

looks like its settled then.
IMO 30 day grace period should be fine as long as everyone is aware of it.

No one is questioning your intentions, or your integrity Gary...both are solid.

This sucks, but Benjamin is head and shoulders over all the other competitors and he is going places. I am sure he will do great at the USA's and beyond. :P

kid looks good but i wouldnt say all that. he still has a long way to go and alot of work to do.
-
He looks great, but the USA is tough.

He looks great, but the USA is tough.
I didn't say he'd win a pro card this year. I just think he'll do well, and he looks a lot better than the other teen nats competitors, including the kid who now was the overall.
Something fishy went on last year as well with a kid called DJ something, I think.
-
he certainly has the genetic structure to do well as long as he keeps improving.
-
this whole thread is embarrasing

To: All Bodybuilding Press
From: Jim Manion, NPC National Office
Subject: Benjamin Loehrer
Due to age ineligibility Benjamin Loehrer has been declared ineligible as the 2009 NPC Teenage National Light-Heavyweight & Overall winner. Overall runner-up Uriah McGee will be awarded the Overall title & also the trip to Los Angeles for the Flex Magazine featured article & photo shoot. Also, all competitors in the Light-Heavyweight class will now move up a placing.

what a joke
nobody lost a million dollar because of this, it's an amateur show.
let the guy keep his fucking trophy... ::)
-
props to Udit for being a stand-up guy and coming right out and addressing it.
The silver lining is that the winner who lost his title will get more coverage and industry attention due to this mix-up than he would have with the title. Plus he still has the pics and memories of being the best man onstage that day.

same thing happend to me as a jnr, found out a few yrs later the kid who beat me was at least one yr over the 21 limit, totaly fucks your head up, as i never botherd doin the finals that yr as i didnt see the point after bein so soundly beaten..
that kid looks incredible for a 20yr old, but he's not as good as some make out, check out lee preist, shauwne ray or ian harrison at that age... massive difference..

Maybe he doesn't want to use dosages as high as those guys did? ???
-
they won back in the late 80's........... ::)
-
great pic you guys uploaded of the guy. ::)
-
I know this is a slippery slope, but it would really suck if your birthday was the day before the show and there was no grace period.
-
Bottom line is
he was NOT a teen
so the trophy is not his
how about his blatant dishonesty?
Sev, here I will have to disagree with you...respectfully
-
The fault lies squarely on the shoulders of the competitor...He knows his birthday.
correct
aside from being hormonized
he is the dishonest one
how did he ever expect to look at that trophy proudly, knowing that he was not eligible?
Like a 30 year old going in an over-40 show

In his interview before the USAs he said that he had the ok (grace period) from Gary Udit to compete. When the complainers went to Jim Manion, Gary was overruled.
