This jumping out of a pool thing has become pretty trendy. UFC lightweight champ B.J. Penn is the latest to pull it off on camera. Jarron Gilbert started it on YouTube. Gilbert, a third-round pick of the Bears in the 2009 NFL draft, is also seen in videos squatting and dead lifting 600-plus pounds.
As for Penn, if there's no editing trickery, the pool jump is impressive for a guy who is only 5-foot-9. But you have to assume most MMA fighters below heavyweight could do this, no? I wonder how many 155-185 pounders in MMA have this kind of leg strength and could actually dunk a basketball?

if GSP was in that same pool, I'm pretty sure he'd hold Penns head underwater until penn was declared legally dead....
and then he'd drag penns lifeless body out of the pool....
dress him up in a girl scout uniform...
and skull fuck him until the cows came home !

More common than I thought
-
impressive but not sure how that helps during a fight
gsp will jump out of 3 1/2 ft this week and one up BJ again ;D

I've seen vids of Penn working out.
He was struggling squatting with 1 plate on each side in a smith machine.
Even if it was a finisher, you should be able to
that 100 times, I wouldn't be posting that.

I've also seen BJ do ten muscle ups on rings.... Something most if not all here can not do. Not to mention his insane flexibilty, balance, explosiveness. At 155, he is THE BEAST.

They were a while ago, this is the closest thing I can find at the moment:

maybe he is doing 5 sets of 1000 reps???
or maybe he is going after the healthy look??? im sure years and years of heavy training has taken its toll in his joints...
;D

Maybe because he is not a bodybuilder, is a lightweight... and will NEVER be known as strong and muscular. He can fight though...

Lesnar is twice the athlete...

::)

Lesnar, GSP might have something to say about that..

I wouldn't mind trying to do it but I would be afraid to be barefoot while attempting it. Can you imagine the pain if you fall short of the jump and skin the top of your toes against the concrete?
Ouch..........

worse yet, land on your shins or knees outside of the pool
