Now I know with all of you being top level "athletes" you must purchase your water from the store rather than drink tap. How many of you Schmoes fill your shopping cart with 8 gallons of store brand drinking water at the grocery store? I only ask because I always get strange looks when I do the very same thing. You just cant compare at .69 cents a gallon. You actually spend more on replacing a water filter in the end.

As a getbigger, I let a member of a lesser message board purchase my groceries for me.

Tap water. Why the fuck would I buy something that is free? Would you buy air if I bottled it?

Maybe if you said it was special, virgin, filtered air and said it was better than regular air. :)

I bet that's not the only thing you like straight from the tap, "Klaus." ;D

What's wrong with tap as long as you live a halfway decent city that puts out clean water?

Had a house in Hawaii with an inline filtration system that included reverse osmosis. It was hooked into the main line so even our toilet water was drinkable. It was great for the dog

The bottled water makes it very conveinent to bring with you where ever you go. I will refil them one time from a Brita water pitcher. It's said it is bad for you to keep refilling the same bottle.

Why would it be bad?

Something about the plastic gives off a petroleum based chemical BPA with repeated fillings, supposedly carcinogenic. There is much controversy over this.

Oh ok I thought it would be something like that. I have been refilling plastic bottles A LOT. :-\

That reminds me, whenever I go on business trips on the road, I take two empty Gatorade bottles. That way I don't have to stop after drinking coffee and a Big Gulp. ;D

Heat and chemicals in the water will leach out plasticisers, I reckon. Use glass bottles.
Fluoride in the water is an awful idea, particularly when used in alongside aluminum sulfate in water treatment as in the US. Aluminum will have trouble crossing the blood/brain barrier on it's own, but fluoride is a great facilitator. If you have a look at the cases of Alzheimers per capita, the US has a wildly disproportionate number and aluminum + fluoride is almost certainly a factor. Btw, aluminum and fluoride are also found together in toothpaste, so rinse thoroughly.
Also, if your water is chlorinated, and it almost certainly is, make sure you are getting enough magnesium every day. All these 'beneficial additives' do more harm than good imo.

You dumbass. 69 cents a gallon is outrageous for water. You should be able to get several gallons of water for a few cents. That is the going price.
ALL bottled water is a rip off.
ALL bottled water is bad for the environment.
Refilling bottles poisons your body with chemicals that release estrogen.
99% of America's tap water is totally drinkable. Cities spend millions to purify their water. If you still don't like it, get a filter and you'll be spending a HELL of a lot less than 69 cents per gallon.
Also, buy a reusable water bottle that doesn't contain the same chemicals as typical bottles. Fill THAT one up and re-use it. Only about 6 dollars and they last for years.

that's why you don't leave plastic water bootles with water in them in the car, especially on a hot day.

Hmmm. I use recyclable bottles, I wonder if it matters...

I have enough trouble carrying my milk, juice and coke out of the store. ;D I wouldn't even have energy to carry all the water.

Yes, water is highly overrated. Why drink it when there is plenty of beer, milk and coffee available? 8)

they make bpa-free water bottles. get one and refill it for free a few times and you recover the cost of the bottle by not having to buy bottled water.

On of the funniest scenes in The Sopranos is where Melfi is talking to her shrink in his office and the guy reaches over out of the frame and his hand comes back with a water bottle wrapped in one of those knitted bottle carriers with a shoulder strap.
Ok, carry on.

I refill and use the same 3 gallon plastic bottle everyday. Never had a problem from it apart from some mild brain damage.
